1969 | JOHN MADDEN After leading the Raiders to a 12-1-1 regular season record and a berth in the AFL Championship Game in his first season as head coach, John Madden was named Pro Football Coach of the Year in 1969. Madden became the third different Raiders head coach to win the award in just six years.

In 1963, Al Davis became the first Raiders head coach to be honored as the Coach of the Year after taking over a team that had won three games in the previous two years and was picked to finish dead last that season and steamrolled to 10 wins, just missing out on the division championship.

John Rauch was named the Pro Football Coach of the Year in 1967 after he guided the Raiders to a 13-1 regular season record and the AFL Championship. Following a loss to the New York Jets in the fourth game of the year, Rauch’s Raiders rolled to 11 consecutive wins on the way to the Silver and Black’s first appearance in the Super Bowl.

2016 | JACK DEL RIO Jack Del Rio was selected as the recipient of the Maxwell Club’s Greasy Neale Professional Coach of the Year Award for 2016. The honor came after leading the Raiders to a 12-4 record and a playoff berth and came in addition to earning AFC Coach of the Year honors from the Committee of 101 in Kansas City.

Hall of Fame offensive tackle Art Shell was named Coach of the Year after taking the Raiders from 8-8 in his first season to a 12-4 record in 1990. The Raiders that year stormed to the AFC Western Division championship and topped Cincinnati in the playoffs on the way to their first appearance in the AFC Championship Game in seven years.

Tom Flores became the fourth Raiders head coach to win the Coach of the Year award in 1982. In a strike-shortened season, Flores led the Silver and Black to an 8-1 regular season record. In just four seasons, Flores established himself as one of the brightest coaches in all of football after winning the World Championship of Professional Football in 1980.
