Inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 8, 2021…First person in history to earn Super Bowl championships as a player, assistant coach and head coach…First quarterback in Raiders history, taking franchise’s first snap on Sept. 11, 1960 vs. Houston… Played in all 14 games with nine starts in 1963 as the Raiders went 10-4 after going 1-13 the previous season, marking the biggest single-season turnaround in pro football history…One of just 20 players to play in all 10 seasons of the American Football League… Finished his playing career with 106 games played with 68 starts with Oakland, Buffalo and Kansas City…Totaled 838 completions on 1,715 pass attempts for 11,959 yards and 93 touchdowns…Was backup quarterback as the Chiefs won Super Bowl IV after the 1969 season… Helped Raiders to an unprecedented run of success as an assistant coach, as Oakland claimed five-straight AFC West titles (1972-76) and appeared in five-straight AFC Championship Games (1973-77)… Part of the Raiders’ Super Bowl XI-winning team…Named head coach of the Raiders in 1979, succeeding John Madden…In nine seasons as head coach of the Raiders, compiled a tremendous 83-53 (.610) regular-season record…Also posted a remarkable 8-3 (.727) record in postseason contests, including wins in Super Bowl XV and XVIII… Postseason winning percentage is second in NFL history behind only Vince Lombardi…In 1980, led the Raiders to four postseason victories to become the first-ever Wild Card team to win the Super Bowl…Also became the first-ever Hispanic head coach to win a Super Bowl with the Raiders’ 27-10 triumph over Philadelphia in Super Bowl XV…In 1983, coached the Raiders to a 14-2 regular-season record and a 38-9 win over Washington in Super Bowl XVIII…The 29-point margin of victory was the largest in Super Bowl history at the time…Became the first Hispanic president/general manager in NFL history when named to the post by Seattle in 1989…Returned to coaching with the Seahawks from 1992-94…Finished his coaching career with a 97-87 (.527) regular-season record…Coached 10 Pro Football Hall of Fame players during his career… Returned to the Raiders as a color commentator on radio broadcasts from 1997-2017.
