HIGHWEST DISTILLERY: THE HOUSE OLD-FASHIONED
High West Distillery and Saloon is in a historic livery stable and garage, right smack in the middle of downtown, and accessible via skis if you want to do something truly unique. Their award-winning whiskey was first distilled in 2007 by former biochemist David Perkins and his wife, Jane. The elegant saloon has authentic Old West trappings, featuring delicious alpine- inspired Western fare alongside the original 250 gallon still. Stop by for lunch, dinner or a rousing après ski crowd, including, of course, some very fine whiskey. RECIPE: In a low ball glass, combine 1.5 ounces of High West Rendezvous Rye, 1.5 ounces of High West Double Rye, ½ ounce of Demerara simple syrup, and two dashes of Angostura bitters. Stir in the glass, garnish with a lemon twist and an orange twist and enjoy.
