DAY 3 Step out of the urban scene on your last day and experience Savannah’s beach. A quick 20 minute drive brings you to Tybee Island’s sandy beach, long pier, and lighthouse, which is open every day except Tuesday and has an attached museum. You could easily bring a cooler and lounge on the beach all day, soaking up the sun and Atlantic surf. For further stimulation, hit up the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, take an eco-kayak tour, or hike a simple nature walk in this unique coastal environment. When you’ve built up an appetite, the Crab Shack at Chimney Creek offers all things seafood. Try the Captain Crab’s Sampler Platter, filled with crab legs, Georgia shrimp, mussels, crawfish, corn, sausage and potatoes.

DAY 2 Work up an appetite with Savannah Bike Tours and check out the city’s downtown. The tour goes through the historic district with an experienced, licensed guide. Take a walk around the city’s 22 squares, each with its own personality. After, experience taste bud nirvana at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, featuring tasty fried chicken, cornbread, sweet potato soufflé, okra gumbo and biscuits. In the afternoon, marvel at the Sistine of the South, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, filled with elaborate stained glass and 34 intricate murals. For dinner, try Cotton and Rye, new American cuisine set inside a former bank. At night, take a ghost tour through the most haunted city in America.
