Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge, USFWS 18634 Evans Road, Tonganoxie, KS 66086 Local Lake within 2-hours of Pleasanton, KS Marais des Cygnes is a natural wildlife refuge with a mission to protect and provide habitat for native plants, wildlife and their public lands. Through educational programs and outdoor recreation, they engage the public in nature. Troops can use Camp Tongawood’s lake and facilities to host these programs or a lake near them. Create your own customized hands- on program. Programs topics include fish identification, casting safety, how to knot and bait a hook, rules and regulations, fish printing, and more. Your program can be customized to the activities your troop would like to do. Our expert rangers will lead Girls on a hiking adventure around the Refuge, which includes prairies and wetlands. Hikes can be customized to meet your specific needs and abilities and include topics such as land conservation and the federal government or fire ecology. Length: 1 hour.
