TOM VLAŠIHA, JEDAN OD JUNAKA KULTNE SERIJE IGRA PRESTOLA TOM WLASCHIHA, ONE OF THE STARS OF CULT SERIES “GAME OF THRONES” DA NISAM ČOVEK BEZ LICA, VOLEO BIH DA SAM DŽOFRI ILI REMZI

IF I WASN’T THE FACELESS MAN, I’D LIKE TO BE JOFFREY OR RAMSAY!

I think they are more interesting for actors Tekst / Words: Aleksandra Držaić, Miloš Stanić Fotografije / Photography: Robert Getel

He’s an actor, eco warrior, history buff, pol- yglot... He is a god of many faces or a man with- out one... He is Tom Wlaschiha, one of the stars of the now cult TV series “Game of Thrones”! Relaxed and smiling, he awaits us in Novi Sad, where he is spending time with the aim of raising environmen- tal awareness. While we stroll around the beautiful Petrovaradin Fortress, Tom says of himself that in life he always tries not to be “a faceless man”. - I think that, even though it seems that actors are not very important, they can use their popular- ity to raise awareness of important issues, such as environmental protection – says Tom at the begin- ning of the interview, emphasising how important the issue of the environment is for him. But we, as passionate lovers of “Game of Thrones”, cannot re- sist! That’s because he is the Faceless Man, Jaqen H'ghar, probably the series’ most intriguing char- acter. We don’t know anything about him, as if he essentially doesn’t exist. We ask him how an actor gets to grips with such a character... - When I read the script, I considered that Jaqen would be a very interesting and attractive char- acter, because he carries a big secret. Mysterious characters are always interesting on stage and in television, and in “Games of Thrones” all of the characters are really well written. Nobody is black and white; they all have many shades of grey. The biggest challenge for me was the way Jaqen talks. He always talks in the third person; I was afraid that could become unnatural. Finding an outline for speech was definitely the biggest challenge. We can’t imagine anyone else in the role of the Faceless Man. However, we wonder what would have happened if he didn’t get that role in the cast- ing, or rather which other character he would have chosen.
