Spooky Season to Birthday Bonanza OUR FALL FAMILY HIGHLIGHTS

Changing leaves, a shift from the summer heat to the cool breezes of fall, and many busy and exciting fall activities — I’ve always loved this time of year. For my family, Halloween is just one highlight of a season packed with celebrations. Along with decorating the house, coming up with last-minute costumes, and watching the neighborhood come alive with trick-or-treaters, we also have several birthdays around the corner. Between my son’s birthday in early October, mine a week later, and my daughter’s in November, the months ahead are filled with fun, traditions, and family moments. Every Halloween, my family and I dress up. We always come up with something at the last minute (I haven’t started planning for this year, either). We also enjoy decorating the house; along with Christmas, it’s the holiday I like to go all-out with. Our neighborhood never disappoints the trick-or-treaters, and we have some friends a couple of streets over who have a full-on block party. This year might be different in our house as my daughter just went to college. While my son will be around, he’s a junior in high school, so who knows what it might look like for him.

Sports ramp up in the fall, with high school basketball and football. My son plays basketball, and I’ve always encouraged my children to get involved in team sports. They teach camaraderie, teamwork, and what it takes to be a leader. People rely on you in a game, and it shows you what it’s like to be a part of something bigger than yourself. This is also an excellent time of year to catch a live show, especially at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. It’s a four-day extravaganza, and we always try to go for at least a day. As October transitions into November, the focus shifts from celebrations to the end-of-year wrap-up. For the firm, it can be a flurry of activity as we aim to close out cases and settle claims before the year’s end. When Thanksgiving takes center stage, it’s a much-needed pause to spend time with family and reflect

on what I’m grateful for. Nothing beats the warmth and comfort of a great meal with your loved ones. Balancing the demands of work with the joy of holiday traditions ensures this time of year remains fulfilling and meaningful, despite the busyness. This time of year will always hold a special place in my heart with its family celebrations. Why Some Baby Names Are Forbidden Naming No-Nos

I would like to start by apologizing to super fans of the 1995 crime drama “Se7en,” who thought they had their baby’s name all picked out. While it’s fine to include a number in a movie’s title, putting a number in a baby’s name is usually illegal. Depending on your state, some rules apply to the length, letters, and symbols that may be legally included in a name. Here are three specific restrictions some states impose for naming your child. Derogatory, Obscene, or Offensive Some of the most common naming rules are to prevent someone from giving their baby a particularly heinous name. A baby’s name cannot be offensive, obscene, or include derogatory terms. Additionally, some monikers, like “King,” “Queen,” and “Santa Claus,” might not seem offensive but are still considered illegal. Other banned

names include “Jesus Christ,” “Adolf Hitler,” “Messiah,” and “Nutella.” Say No to Math If you have ever wondered why you’ve never met someone from Canton or Cleveland named R2-D2 or 42069, there is a legal reason for that. Some states, including Ohio, New Jersey, and Virginia, forbid using numbers in baby names. However, this is not true across the board. States like Illinois, California, and Florida have no specific rules against including numbers in names. New York, however, forbids using numbers and mandates the maximum length of all first names to be 30 characters long or less. Symbols and Non-English Letters In 2020, Elon Musk made waves when he and his girlfriend Grimes named their

baby boy X Æ A-Xii. If you are struggling to pronounce that name, you are not alone. However, depending on the baby’s birth state, that name may run afoul of the law. In New York, for instance, symbols like hyphens, asterisks, and apostrophes are not allowed. California law prohibits pictographs and non-English characters. These rules are often due to the software used to keep records of people’s names and are common across many states. If you must name your baby something numerical or inappropriate, I recommend moving to Kentucky. It is one of the few states with no significant rules regarding naming children.

your injury, you can strengthen your case. Complete a workplace injury report and ensure you have a copy. Follow the doctor’s orders. It is vital to follow your medical provider’s instructions and not miss any appointments or essential deadlines. Not only is it important for your health to take your post-accident health care seriously, but it will also protect you if the insurance company gets involved. If you don’t follow your medical instructions, it could be used to make it appear as though your injuries weren’t as severe as you indicated. If your employer does not have workers’ comp, you may need to file a personal injury claim, and sticking to your medical plan shows you did everything right in the situation. Talk to a lawyer. An experienced workplace injury attorney in Texas can help you pursue proper legal action for your injury, especially if your employer is a non-subscriber or a company that does not have workers’ comp. The legal process can be more complicated in these cases, as non-subscribers aren’t protected by the same laws that typically limit liability. A skilled lawyer can guide you through the nuances of Texas law, help gather the necessary evidence, and ensure you receive the compensation you deserve for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

HURT ON THE JOB?

After a workplace accident, knowing the next steps to take can make all the difference in ensuring you secure the help you need to recover. The process can be complex in Texas, the only state that doesn’t require employers to have workers’ compensation coverage. From reporting the incident to properly documenting everything, it’s important to take swift, informed action so you can focus on healing. Report the accident to your employer. Even if you don’t feel like you have severe injuries as a result of your workplace accident, you should report it to your employer immediately. You must file your report within 30 days of the accident to receive any compensation for your medical needs. You could lose financial compensation and additional benefits if you miss that window. Additionally, by informing your supervisor or boss about

Shared Resources, Stronger Results Why Partnering With Another Attorney Pays Off

Increased Networking Working with another firm

As attorneys, we strive to give our clients the best possible outcome, but sometimes, a case requires more than one perspective. There might be a conflict of interest, or you might take on a case that requires more bandwidth and expertise in a specific practice area than you can provide. That’s where collaboration comes in. By co-counseling with another experienced attorney, you can pool niche knowledge, resources, and perspectives to give your client the best shot at a successful outcome. At Armstrong Law, we regularly work with outside lawyers who need our assistance, and we’ve learned how many benefits there can be in referrals. Shared Resources When you partner with another attorney, you can share resources and reduce costs. Co-counsel can share in expenses like office space, equipment, and even support staff. This can be extremely helpful for smaller firms on a tight budget that may not have the staffing or technology of a more established firm. Not only can this save money, it can empower you with better tools to serve your clients. Pooled Experience Co-counsel arrangements are also an effective way to gain valuable trial experience or experience in a practice area where your firm does not specialize. By playing off another attorney’s strengths, you can achieve better results. You can split up tasks so that everyone’s skill sets contribute to the outcome of a shared case. Someone with a different area of expertise can see a case in ways you may not be able to.

A Crowd Shows Up to The Chicken Man’s 40-Day Rotisserie Romp PHILLY’S PECK-ULIAR CELEBRATION

The City of Brotherly Love never ceases to amaze us. In 2022, Alexander Tominsky perhaps didn’t expect just how much his city would support him, but Philadelphia did not disappoint. Tominsky, aka The Chicken Man, posted a flyer stating, “COME WATCH ME EAT AN ENTIRE ROTISSERIE CHICKEN,” along with a modest photo collage of him eating the bird. The “official” event description was equally straightforward: “November 6th will be the 40th consecutive day that I have eaten an entire rotisserie chicken 12 o’clock noon The chicken will be consumed on that abandoned pier near Walmart This is not a party.”

A bit odd for sure, but everyone has the right to eat 40 rotisserie chickens and celebrate said poultry at an abandoned pier. Little did The Chicken Man know that this flyer would become a viral sensation, and a crowd would show up to the abandoned pier on Nov. 6 to cheer him on. Despite people being unsure whether the said rotisserie chicken event was, in fact, real, Philadelphia showed up. And they enthusiastically cheered Tominsky on as he consumed his 40th rotisserie chicken. The uproar only intensified when he triumphantly finished the chicken, standing up and putting his fist in the air (reminiscent of the film hero Rocky Balboa). To make the scene even more iconic, Bruce Springsteen’s

“Streets of Philadelphia” played in the background amid the poultry celebration.

The lesson here? We’re not entirely sure — American gluttony? Fifteen minutes of fame? — but it does prove the power of community, especially in Philadelphia. Many in the crowd weren’t sure that said chicken consumption would occur or perhaps questioned why an abandoned pier was the locale of choice. At the end of his binge- eating extravaganza, Tominsky expressed his gratitude for the people who showed up, saying, “Thanks for watching me consume.” Be sure to keep an eye out for The Chicken Man because you never know when he’ll make a rotisserie return.
