Mr. Williams has authored over twenty technical papers, given invited lectures at major mid-west universities, and has received professional awards and international recognition for his innovative work. He is a recipient of the Henry Ford II Technology Award, the SAE Industrial Lectureship Award, the SAE Oral Presentation Award, and the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award. He holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Detroit and an M.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from the United States Air Force Institute of Technology. Mark Wine Mark Wine is a senior development engineer at Drew Technologies Inc. which is a manufacturer of J2534-1 devices. His work includes developing and supporting the J2534-1 compliant CarDAQ and Mongoose family of products. Since 1993, Mr. Wine has been acquiring experience in product and software development including 10 years developing vehicle communication products. Most recently, Mr. Wine has been working with GM and Allison Transmission on advanced J2534-1 applications. Prior to working in automotive, Mr. Wine delivered product training and technical support throughout Asia. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Montana State University. Paul Wooderson Paul Wooderson, MEng CEng MIET, is Senior Functional Safety/ Cyber Security Engineer at HORIBA MIRA Ltd, currently responsible for cybersecurity research and development. He is a Chartered Engineer with 16 years’ experience in embedded systems security in the automotive and smartcard domains. Paul’s experience includes threat analysis and risk assessment, security evaluation of cryptographic hardware and software, secure design techniques and security certification. Paul is a UK Expert to the ISO/SAE joint working group developing the international standard ISO/SAE AWI 21434 ‘Road Vehicles - Cybersecurity Engineering’, and is also a member of the SAE Task Forces on Vehicle Electrical Hardware Security and Cybersecurity Assurance Testing. Kenneth Woodside Ken Woodside is a senior consultant with The Luminous Group. His consulting experience has focused on assisting organizations improve their ability to operate more effectively and efficiently while meeting customer needs and expectations. He is particularly experienced in designing and implementing interventions that focus on developing creative bottom line strategies, increase productivity and improve production effectiveness. These inter- ventions have included senior management and line personnel in the process of developing and implementing change strategies including restructuring, lean manufacturing, quality improvement, and customer / supplier relations. Ken was part of a long term consulting experience to install process control at a major metal stamping and assembly plant that provided the foundation for QS-9000 certification. As a part of this consultation 26 production teams were launched and trained using process control, lean manufacturing and quality improvement processes

and was the 2005-06 Chairman of the Chapter. He also served on the executive committee of TMS Boston Section, where he was president from 1993-95. Dr. Wang has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng - Kung University, a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University, and a M.S. and Sc.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Massa- chusetts Institute of Technology. David Ward Dr. David Ward is Senior Technical Manager, Functional Safety at HORIBA MIRA. In this role, he provides leadership in development and independent assessment of automotive electronic system safety, reliability and cybersecurity. Since joining HORIBA MIRA in the 1990s, Dr. Ward has been instrumental in industry activities to develop standards and guidance for automotive functional safety, beginning with the pioneering MISRA ”Guidelines for Development of Vehicle Based Software” in 1994 and more recently as the UK Principal Expert to ISO/TC22/SC32/WG8 ”Road Vehicles - Functional Safety”, which develops ISO 26262. Dr. Ward is an active contributor to the automotive industry’s first standard for cybersecurity SAE J3061. In recognition of his contribution to standardization in functional safety, he was awarded the Institute of Mechanical Engineers Award for Risk Reduction in 2013. Dr. Ward holds an MA degree in Natural Science from the University of Cambridge, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK and holds appointments as a Visiting Professor in Functional Safety at Coventry University, UK and in Engineering Design at the University of Leicester, UK. Dan White Dan White is Chief Engineer of Platform for LHP Engineering Solutions. Dan has been designing automotive hardware and software solutions for over 25 years. He has experience in building Hardware-in-the-loop test systems for engine control development using various hardware and software solutions. Dan’s experience includes engineering of diesel engine controls, vehicle communications and service tools for the automotive aftermarket, OEMs and Tier1 suppliers. Jack Williams Mr. Williams is the principal at Airflow & Aerodynamics Engineering, LLC and an independent consultant specializing in the design and development of thermal management systems and vehicle aerodynamics. He is an adjunct faculty member at the Lawrence Technological University (LTU) and a guest lecturer for their MSAE Program on Automotive Mechanical Systems. In addition to his consulting work, he conducts professional development seminars for engineers on cooling systems, HEV battery thermal management, and road vehicle aerodynamics. Mr. Williams has over thirty years engineering management experience in product development at Ford Motor Co. Additionally, he was an aerody- namics project leader with the USAF Aeronautical Systems Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio where he specialized in engine/aircraft integration, gas turbine engine performance, inlet design, and aircraft mission analysis.
