His wife Marjolaine and their two children, Patrick and Paula, now adults, all still live in the Hawkesbury area. Marjolaine Kirk found it difficult to speak during her brief appearance at themicro- phone during a special dedication cere- mony for a bridge to thememory of her late husband, Const. Peter J. Kirk. She thanked everyone in both English and French for attending to honour her husband before
her voice broke and she had to return to her seat in the front row with her family. “Merci à tous,” were Marjolaine Kirk’s last words as she left the podium.

involvement in the community during his off-hours, playing drums in a local band, enjoying pickup games of basketball with his friends, and other activities, including spending time with his family. “This is an important act of remembrance for us,” said Deputy Commissioner Couture. “These tragic events remain etched forever in our memories.” “It is important for us to remember,” said mayor Gary Barton of Champlain Township. “This (bridge plaque) will remind us each time, as we drive by, of the dedication and importance of our police service.”
Const. Kirk was 32 when he died on June 9, 1968 while on highway patrol in Champlain Township. He was westbound on County Road 17 near the Blue Corners Road intersection between the villages of L’Orignal and Alfred. A small convertible heading east was just passing by the crui- ser when it hit the soft gravel shoulder of the road and, as the 18-year-old driver lost control for a moment, veered over into the opposite lane. Deuxième mandat pour Éric Charlebois
L’auteur originaire de Hawkesbury, Éric Charlebois, a été élu pour un deuxièmemandat consécutif à la présidence de l’Association des auteures et auteurs de l’Ontario français lors de son assemblée générale annuelle qui a eu lieu à Ottawa le 11 juin 2016. Éric Charlebois s’est dit honoré de représenter les membres et d’obtenir à nouveau leur confiance. « Surtout dans le contexte actuel, c’est-à-dire au beaumilieu de deux projets capitaux, soit le renouvellement de notre plan stratégique, et celui d’assurer les suivis depuis la présentation du forum Nos livres, nos écoles ». PUMAS Volleyball (Casselman)
L’association des PUMAS, équipes féminines de volleyball à Casselman, est à la recherche d’entraîneurs/entraîneuses et d’entraîneurs/entraîneuses adjoint(e)s pour la saison 2016-2017 débutant en septembre 2016. Les entraîneurs/ entraîneuses et entraîneurs/entraîneuses adjoint(e)s devront être disponibles quelques heures (de deux à trois fois par semaine) pour l’entraînement de jeunes athlètes féminines (entre 12 et 17 ans). Ils(elles) devront être en mesure d’enseigner les techniques du volleyball, promouvoir le développement de l’esprit sportif et du respect de soi et des autres, en plus d’encourager un comportement positif chez les adolescentes. Les filles participeront à plusieurs tournois durant la saison. Les entraîneurs/entraîneuses seront rémunéré(e)s à la fin de la saison (avril 2017).
