WAKE FOREST COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN

Develop an inventory of ADA accessible crosswalks and pedestrian ramps and develop an action plan to bring substandard infrastructure into compliance.

Develop an updated interactive website for the greenway network.

Develop a standard operating procedure for greenway sign locations that as part of the development review process.

Expand existing GIS data along greenways to ensure signage, emergency locations, benches, and other amenities have been captured.

Expand pedestrian connectivity standards in the UDO for block length and at the ends of cul-de-sacs.

Continue to support the funding of sidewalk gaps with Town funding.

Evaluate the proposed bicycle network and update proposals after investigating need and if roadways can accommodate proposals.

Evaluate all unsignalized greenway trail crossing to determine whether crossing enhancements would be appropriate.

Explore grant opportunities such as CDBG funding for improvements in marginalized neighborhoods. Continue coordination with CAMPO, Wake County, NCDOT, and other local and regional partners, as appropriate, on infrastructure improvements and funding sources, such as LAPP.

Update pedestrian signage to be interpretive to meet ADA requirements.

Support Wake Forest bicycle safety events and explore additional opportunities.

Evaluate the use of soft trails and paved surfaces in the development of the Wake Forest Reservoir master plan while ensuring residents with varying ability level access to the reservoir. Evaluate the Town-owned 80 acres behind Heritage High School for any deed restrictions that limit development of the Smith Creek Greenway and neighborhood connections thereto.
