Wake Forest Comprehensive Transportation Plan - Dec. 2021

WAKE FOREST COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN

Rogers Road & Heritage Lake Road / Forestville Road Intersection Issue • Unsafe intersection, drivers often go straight from right turn lane when going southwest from Heritage Lake to Forestville.

Medium-Term Improvements Widen the eastbound Rogers Road approach to provide an additional exclusive left-turn lane and extend the existing right-turn lane. Provide the eastbound left-turn lanes with at least 450 feet of storage (existing storage) and an appropriate taper. Extend existing right-turn lane to provide at least 500 feet of storage. Consider a free right-turn lane for this movement if queuing issues continue to exist. Widen the westbound Rogers Road approach to provide an exclusive right-turn with at least 200 feet of storage and an appropriate taper. Widen the northbound Forestville Road approach to provide an additional exclusive left-turn lane and an additional through lane. Provide the dual left-lane turn lanes with at least 900 feet of storage each and appropriate taper. Based on microsimulation analysis, the queues on this movement are anticipated to be very heavy. Widen the southbound Heritage Lake Road approach to provide an additional through lane. Consider alternative intersection configuration for this intersection if the operational issues continue.
