VINTAGE, ART AND HOPS

Feather River Vineyards Feather River Vineyards gets Buffalo Bill’s Buffalo of Approval for its quiet atmosphere, great wine and beautiful scenery. Located in the hills of the Southern Platte Valley, just south of North Platte, Feather River has been offering a variety of wines that reflect the character and history of the area’s geologic heritage since 2007. River and windblown sediment have created the mineral-rich soil of the region that nurtures vines that produce grapes of a distinctive quality. Feather River is one of Nebraska’s largest vineyards and planted their first vines in 2001. The 37-acre vineyard includes a bevy of grape varieties including Edelweiss, Seyval, Riesling, LaCrosse, St. Pipen, Marechal Foch, Frontanec, St. Croix, and Marquette. The Feather River Winery includes a tasting room with a veranda, production area, and lab. It is open for private parties and group tours. Tents are available for parties at the vineyard or amid the grapevines. All of that is enough to make even Buffalo Bill feel classy and sophisticated, so it’s no wonder that Feather River Vineyards gets Buffalo Bill’s Buffalo of Approval.

Numbers will continue to grow until peaking in mid-March, remaining high through the end of March. By the middle of April, they will all be gone. The North Platte area offers a variety of sandhill crane experiences, including public blinds, private guided blinds and guided bus tours. Visitors can even combine the
