was so unique that it caught the atten tion of the various national news ser vices. This bird had constructed its home in a railroad freight car while the vehicle was in the shop for repairs. When the box car was ready again for service, however, the bird’s fam ily was just arriving. Trainmen noted the prog ress. Although the car was scheduled to gc, the division superintendent or dered it to remain out of service until the little birds were able to take care of themselves. A great railroad system was so ordered to protect helpless, seemingly insignificant, little birds. The Saviour illustrated it Himself by saying, “Behold the fouls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into bams; yet your hea venly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they.” “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all of these things shall be added unto you” (Matt. 6:26 and 33).
“little animal” life? What a wonderful opportunity it was for the servant of Christ to explain that no man can give life and that only God, through per sonal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, can give eternal life. God has placed us in our neighborhood, our place of business, in all of our human relation ships, that we might be witnesses for Him. We are but servants; workers or watch-winders. To us is committed the Word of ministry. We can wind faith fu lly and well, but God alone is able to impart the life. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” (II Corin thians 5:17). * * * There are no idle rumors for rumors are always insidiously busy. * * * CARING FOR BIRDS Birds have an unusual habit of build ing their nests in strange places.
