There were only three envelopes left when Beriault found the Ace. “It was nerve wracking to say the least,” said Kin Club’s Doug Anthony. “We had a $718,000 winner in 2021, but nothing like this ever before. We were excited to reach the two-million-dollar mark and see the sheer amount of tickets being sold each week.” The Club will be hosting a celebratory gala on September 23 at 7 p.m. to present the six charities with their portion of the money raised. Public seats will be available for those who want to attend, and emails of congratu- lations and encouragement for both the Kin Club and the charities will be displayed. Emails can be sent to kinclubofrussell@gmail.com “On behalf of the entire Kin Club of Russell, a very sincere thank you and gratitude for your unwavering support,” the Kin Club said in an email. “Thanks to your generosity, together we have raised $2,000,000.00 to split amongst our great charities! We couldn’t have done it without you!” The six worthy charities that will split the two million dollars are Good Neighbours Food Bank in Russell, Kin Club of Russell’s Storage Centre For Local Service Clubs and Charities, Osgoode Care Centre, Valoris Foundation, Victoria’s Quilts Canada, and the WDMH Foundation. The Kin Club of Russell is applying for its sixth Catch the Ace lottery this fall. The club will post an interview later in the month on its Facebook page.
