menting upon them afterward. The men are very orderly and attentive. We havt been well received by the officers in charge and they have given us additional time to talk to the men on several occasions. While the message is largely given in Spanish to the Mexicans, yet we also talk to the others in English and each week distribute both Spanish and English Gospel literature. New men are constantly put on tjie gang, so that the work is one of great possibilities,,tin reaching many. At the meeting last Thurs day, about 30 Mexicans were on the gang. dred and thirty-five men taking definite Bible study each week through a system dred and thirty-five men taking definite of Bible study leaflets I am preparing espe cially for this work. Letters have been written to relatives as the prisoners de sired, seeking reconciliation, etc., and many of them bear fruit eternity will reveal. A few excerpts from some of the letters received might show to the readers of the K ing ’ s B usiness the power of the Word of God to bless better than a great deal of matter written about it. One writes, “I take pleasure in giving my testimony to the excellency of the work of Brother Hunter while he was with us. He drew as no teacher of Bible truth before has drawn in this community. Mother is deeply interested; she says she has never heard anything preached on the rapture of the Church but has always thought it figurative.”^ Another says, “I can never tell the joy that is mine since I returned to my Saviour and found what real Christianity means. D uring the last month we began regular weekly Gospel meetings with the city chain gang. About three-fourths of these pris oners are Mexicans. This fact alone ought to emphasize the great need of Gospel work among them. At the close of their dinner hour, with the help of one of our “baby” organs, we sing Gospel songs, perhaps com * I ' HE Lord’s richest blessing seems to rest on the work He has called me to do in this section of the State, and it would only be necessary to look into the faces of the members of the different classes to discern this. O n May 17th it was my privilege to organize a Union Church at Los Altos with a membership of about- thirty-five. This is the culmination of a ministry of fourteen months, begun on Easter day, 1913. The opening of the Word there has blessed many. The continued ministry of a whole Bible has drawn the people together into this organization and the prospects look good for a continued growth both in grace and in numbers. The Lord’s Supper was administered and the power of God was very plainly manifest in this service. T he prison class gets more and more in teresting. The continued response from men who are eager to serve their Lord is inspiring indeed. It would take up too much space to give a comprehensive picture of any specific event Connected with this work, so I shall pass this till another time. Suf ficient to say this time that there are many little deeds that are being performed each week for these men that will tell in their lives after they are released from prison. Bibles have been provided for many at their own earnest request. There are one hun
