JULY 2023
WHERE DO YOUR CHIPS FALL?
MAKE TIME FOR THINGS THAT MATTER MOST
If you know me, you’ll know I’m a big advocate for podcasts! I listen to them often to fuel my motivation, spark my creativity, pass the time, and help spawn new ideas. Just the other day, on a podcast, the topic was “drop everything and …” It focused on the importance of carving out time for yourself, your family, and the things that matter the most. For some, we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of our
daily lives that it’s hard to find time to exercise. Even squeezing in an extra half an hour every other day can be a burden. For others, making time for our kids can be a challenge.
In this life journey, it’s important to focus all our energy on the things that matter most.
This podcast explained the importance of dropping it all and making the time. Life is way too short. On July 26, we celebrate All or Nothing Day. It’s one of those fun yet inspirational “national” days that remind us of the importance of making the time for things that truly matter. Sure, our careers, chores, and responsibilities are important, but we will never get back lost time with our families or time spent caring for ourselves. In this life journey, it’s important to focus all our energy on the things that matter most — ourselves and our families — and everything else, while also important, can take a back seat. To help prioritize responsibilities and ensure we are making time for the best things in our life, here are some tips! Figure out what matters most to you. While we may think we know what comes first in our lives, we can lie to ourselves because we think we know what the answer should be. Instead, take some time, find some peace and quiet, and really analyze what makes it to the top of your priorities list. Set up boundaries. Of course, our work is a large priority in our lives, but it shouldn’t consume it. It’s paramount to set some boundaries to make sure we
give a proper time and place to everything. To properly divide your time, boundaries can help you keep work at work and home at home. Eliminate comparisons. It’s important to understand that priorities are individual to each of us. What is at the top
of your list may be further down the list for me and vice versa. Thus, comparing ourselves to others won’t do us any good. Stay focused on your goals and priorities; the results will surprise you! Learn to say 'no.' As much as we want to please everyone and make time for everything, it’s nearly impossible! It’s important to learn how to politely say “no” when we just aren’t able to do something. It’s not letting others down; it’s simply putting yourself first!
If someone said, “Drop everything and …” to you, what would you fill in the blanks with? Where do your priories fall?

A summer garage sale is a tried and tested way to earn a little cash while eliminating things you no longer need. But it’s also the perfect opportunity for parents to teach their children a few life lessons. Making your garage sale a family project can teach kids about organization, money management, and the pride of a hard day’s work. The lessons start immediately as your family determines what they no longer need. Younger children, in particular, often struggle to part with their possessions. A garage sale is an opportunity to discuss what they use, what they don’t, and why we can’t keep every object we own forever. This process will teach kids organization as they create their “keep,” “sell,” and “toss” piles. On the big day, your children can also play a significant role in organizing and displaying your merchandise. Kids can help determine which items should share a table and what should be front and center to catch buyers’ eyes. WHAT YOUR SUMMER GARAGE SALE CAN TEACH YOUR KIDS
Math and money management also play a pivotal role in any successful garage sale. First, you must determine what the items you’re selling are worth. While letting your kids set prices is probably unwise, you can help them understand market value and what people will pay for used merchandise. Your children can take a more active role in the sale itself. Depending on their ages, they can gain valuable experience making change for customers or negotiating a deal on the items for sale. The best part of using your garage sale as a learning opportunity is that your children can personally experience the value of hard work. They’ll watch their old possessions disappear and the cash trickle in. More than anything, they’ll probably love adding up the day’s takings. Whether or not you give your kids a cut of the earnings is up to you. But even if they don’t end up with fatter pockets, your children will walk away from the family garage sale with lessons that will last longer than any extra cash could.

A HEARTBREAKING CASE SET FOR TRIAL Hands down, our favorite aspect of our careers is helping others to navigate some of the most difficult times in their lives. We have a passion for setting the record straight and bringing the truth to justice. In today’s world, the weight of reality can be heavy, but we stand behind our clients to defend what is right. We just recently began trial on one of the most heartbreaking cases we have yet to encounter — a mother of three boys, all within 18 months of each other, lost her husband, a 42-year-old teacher with a tutoring business to a medical malpractice case. The interesting thing about this case is that it just recently went viral — the defense attorney was recorded and broadcasted while celebrating and ringing a bell after successfully convincing the jury that his client, the doctor responsible for our client’s husband’s death, was not guilty. Many watched this video in disgust as we have compelling evidence that after the death, the hospital went back in and doctored evidence to cover up their mistakes.
MATCHA-COVERED STRAWBERRIES
Inspired by TeakAndThyme.com
• 1 1/4 cups chopped white chocolate • 1 tsp matcha powder, ceremonial grade • 14 fresh strawberries, rinsed and patted dry Ingredients
Directions
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. 2. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the white chocolate in 15–20-second intervals, stirring in between until it's completely melted. 3. Add matcha powder to the melted white chocolate and stir until thoroughly mixed. Hold a strawberry by its leaves and dip it into the matcha chocolate mixture until it’s almost entirely covered. Shake off any excess chocolate, then place the matcha- covered strawberry on a baking
sheet and let it harden. Repeat with remaining strawberries.
4. Fill a piping bag with leftover chocolate and
drizzle strawberries with the chocolate. Let chocolate-covered
strawberries completely harden at room temperature before gently peeling them off the parchment paper.
