“I’ve got a theory that if you give 100% all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.” —Larry Bird From a young age, sports have been a huge part of my life. As soon as I could run, I played soccer, baseball, and basketball. In junior high, I ran track and field, and in high school, I played football and even tried my hand at wrestling and powerlifting. In college, I played lacrosse. I love the excitement of sports and the constant challenge to improve. Competition is in my blood — I always strive to be the best and to do things the right way. On October, 10, we celebrate National Kick Butt Day, a day that resonates with me. Whether on or off the field, I’m always driven to kick butt and be the best version of myself for my family, my clients, and me. I’m highly motivated and never shy away from a challenge. I’ll never back down. I built my law firm from the ground up. I started with just one client, a tiny office, and no money, and over the past 10 years, I’ve worked incredibly hard to grow both my legal knowledge and my business skills along with the firm itself. I’ve learned how to market, manage a team, and navigate the complexities of running a business. From these experiences, I understand the pain of potentially losing what you’ve worked so hard to build. That’s what drives me every single day — to protect my clients from that kind of loss. This law firm is my life’s work. Everything I’ve done has led me to this point, and I wake up every morning determined to keep learning and growing so that my clients never have to experience The Relentless Pursuit of Knowledge and Growth Why I’ll Never Stop Kicking Butt

the heartache I can imagine. It’s what motivates me to kick butt and give my all, day in and day out.

We work tirelessly to ensure our clients are fully protected through estate planning, asset protection, and proper tax strategies. I’m always striving to learn more and equip myself with the knowledge needed to serve my clients better. After college, I went to law school, became a Certified Tax Coach, earned my Master’s in Tax Law, and I’m currently working on becoming a Certified Exit Planner. We’re also integrating AI into our firm to enhance our services. With these tools and ongoing education, we aim to be the best resource for our clients and continually exceed their expectations. The learning and improvement never stop, and I’m determined to kick butt every day!

It may sound cheesy, but I’m going to say it anyway: The best investment you can make is in yourself.

Does California Recognize Domestic Asset Protection Trusts?

A DAPT is a type of irrevocable trust established to protect the assets held within. Unlike other trusts, however, these often have the same grantor and discretionary beneficiary, providing asset protection after a certain period to individuals who are placing their assets into the trust and benefiting from it. California does not allow the establishment of irrevocable self-settled trusts where the same individual is benefiting from a trust that their own assets are being fed into. In fact, most states don’t. The only states that do are Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

You would want to establish your trust in a state that recognizes DAPTs and that is more likely than not to uphold the asset protection status afforded to you by the establishment of a DAPT. Alaska, Delaware, Nevada, South Dakota, and Wyoming provide the most extensive asset protection for those who establish DAPTs. YOU CAN PROTECT YOUR LEGACY WITH DAHL LAW GROUP. Our team of experienced estate planning professionals is prepared to apply the most efficient and effective tools in your estate plan. We use all the available options and resources to guide our clients toward the right choices for their specific circumstances. When you’re ready to get your estate plan done right, contact Dahl Law Group for personalized legal counsel and ask if a Domestic Asset Protection Trust is right for you.

the grantor is giving up control of an asset rather than retaining control and benefiting from it. WHERE SHOULD I ESTABLISH A DOMESTIC ASSET PROTECTION TRUST? As noted, you won’t be able to establish a DAPT in California. So, where should you? Public policy of the state where you reside governs whether you can set one up. However, some states will refuse to enforce a judgment from California if that judgment goes against the policy within that state.

DAPTs afford asset protection that is generally reserved for trusts where

Become a Nature Detective Unlock the Secrets of Animal Footprints

Have you ever discovered a mysterious set of animal tracks? Reading those footprints can be your ticket to uncovering the hidden world of wildlife right under your nose. Whether you’re on a camping trip hoping to spot one of your favorite critters or simply curious about the pawprints you stumbled on at home, we’re here to show you how to become a nature detective. PREPARE AND OBSERVE You’ll have the best luck spotting tracks or other signs of animal life in places where wildlife is known to frequent. Find watering holes or other areas where animals may feed or gather. Tracks need a suitable medium, like snow, mud, sand, or soft dirt, for them to show. Regardless of where you’re heading, bring a field guide,

a map of the area, hiking supplies, and tools for tracking, like a ruler, magnifying glass, and a camera. COUNT THE TOES Your main clues to the owner of these natural calling cards are the number of toe and claw marks on the print. Canines, like wolves, and felines, like cougars, all have four toes, but you can see a significant difference between their claws. Cats have retractable claws, so their pawprints won’t always have claws. In contrast, birds have distinctive tracks with three long, skinny, forward-facing toes. IDENTIFY YOUR PREY When you have identified what animal family left the print behind, you can begin

to home in on its exact species. Use a small ruler to measure the size of the track to give you clues. A wolf, for example, has similar prints to a dog, but they are about 2 inches wider. Context is also a crucial factor when you’re tracking. Think about the animals that live in the area. Would there be any domesticated dogs in the woods where you are hiking? Document your tracks with photos and notes in a nature journal. If you’re still unsure, go online and look at various animal tracks. You may find what you’re looking for! So, next time you stumble upon animal tracks, get out your ruler and camera! Those prints could lead you on a great adventure!
