FAMILY DAY: SOUTHERN/MODERN Saturday, September 30, 10 a.m. – noon The exhibition “Southern/Modern” includes over 100 examples of modern art created in the American South. Check out an exciting variety of styles and themes, explore Art Cart activities and make art to take home. For those who cannot attend in-person, Family Day To-Go Kits available for pick-up starting at 1 p.m. Saturday through the end of day Sunday while supplies last. BACKPACK TOURS Want a unique tour of the permanent collection? Check out a Backpack Tour at the front desk. Available in both English and Spanish, the backpack includes gallery activities, art supplies and looking prompts that can be completed at your own pace. These self-guided tours are free and perfect for a family visit. Recommended for ages 5 – 14.

YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAMS

Looking at, making and talking about art can offer a welcome respite. Studies show the therapeutic benefits of art can increase our sense of well-being and connection. Join art therapist Meg Abbot as we explore art and create something wonderful together.

FAMILY DAY: SAND AND SURF Saturday, July 15, 10 a.m. – noon

The dawg days of summer are here. If you can’t make it to the beach this weekend, come to the museum instead and take a closer look at images of sandy beaches and blue oceans. After you explore the galleries and play Art Cart games, head into the Michael and Mary Erlanger Studio Classroom to make your own sand and surf-inspired art. For those who cannot attend in-person, Family Day To-Go Kits will be available for pick-up starting at 1 p.m. Saturday through the end of day Sunday while supplies last. *TODDLER TUESDAY Enjoy looking at art and storytime together in the galleries, then complete an art activity just for the little ones. This free program is designed for families with children ages 18 months to 3+ years. • Tuesday, August 22, 10 a.m. Going Places • Tuesday, September 12, 10 a.m. Animals A - Z FAMILY DAY: POWER COUPLE: PIERRE AND LOUISE Saturday, August 19, 10 a.m. – noon Artists and married couple Pierre and Louise Daura shared the same apartment complex with fellow artist Joaquín Torres-García and his family. This Family Day focuses on an exhibition about the families’ friendship and affection. Celebrate friendship, play Art Cart games in the galleries and make art to take home. For those who cannot attend in-person, Family Day To-Go Kits available for pick-up starting at 1 p.m. Saturday through the end of day Sunday while supplies last.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW June and July

WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES

Day camps, daycares and community centers are invited to take part in this free summer program, with morning and afternoon time slots available Tues- days and Wednesdays from June 7 to July 27. Inspired by all the colors of the rainbow we can find in the museum’s permanent collection, each 90-min- ute session will include gallery tours, games and an art activity. Each session can accommodate up to 30 children, with one chaperone for every 10 kids. To schedule your group’s Art Adventure, contact gmoa-tours@uga.edu or call 706.542.0448.

YOGA IN THE GALLERIES Thursday, July 20, August 17 and September 21, 6 p.m. Join us for a free yoga class surrounded by works of art in the galleries. Led by instruc- tors from Five Points Yoga, this program is free and open to both beginner and expe- rienced yogis. Sanitized mats are provided. Space is limited and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis; tickets are available at the front desk starting at 5:15 p.m. *MORNING MINDFULNESS Friday, August 25 and September 22, 9:30 a.m. Come rest and recharge in the galleries surrounded by inspiring art. Experienced mindfulness instructors lead guided medita- tions, gentle movements and slow-looking techniques. This program is free, stools are provided and no experience or special attire is needed.
