Antonio svira mnogo instru-
The Belgrade Jazz Festival is once again bringing the Serbian capital into the centre of cultural events this autumn. Under the slo- gan “Planet Jazz”, this year’s 32nd edition of the festival presents the world’s greatest jazz artists, inc- luding the best flamenco jazz qu- artet in the world, “Flame & Co”, which is led by brilliant Spaniard Antonio Serrano. On 27th October at the Sava Centre the public will be able to enjoy the wonderful sounds of his harmonica, which he began playing when he was only seven years old. In this exclusive inter- view for Elevate, Serrano says that his father is to blame for that love. - My father was a man of scien- ce who had an amazing passion for music and especially for the harmonica. What he learned from studying engineering he applied to teaching, and I benefited a lot from that. For me, it was like a game. It was only years later that I decided I wanted to be a professi- onal. I wanted to be like my father. It was not long before that- Serrano received call from the gre- at Larry Adler. Larry heard him play in 1987 at a harmonica festi- val and invited him to play in Pa- ris. Serrano was only 13 years old at the time. - I was excited, but I was too young to really understand the si- gnificance of what happened. But there is one thing I learned from Larry that I never forgot: you have to love what you do. Serrano play lots of instru- ments, but has chosen the
Flamenko je veoma sofisticiran. Da biste ga svirali, morate biti puni strasti, ali i ozbiljno poznavati ritam, melodiju i harmoniju Flamenco is very sophisticated. To play it requires a lot of passion, but also an understanding of rhythm, melody and harmony.
