It Happened This Summer
We asked our M embers to let us know what they’ve been doing this summer. Did they leave Marco or stay for the summer? Did they go on an exciting vacation, take an exotic trip, have visitors, or do something special wherever they were? Following are the responses we received which showcase what our M embers did on their hiatus from Marco this summer. Travels to foreign countries and a favorite lake; boating and R V -ing; spending time with family and friends; home construction; goodbye and greetings to furry friends. Many memories and stories to savor and share with each other.

Alan & Linda Sandlin: Left in our 35 ft. Newmar Kountry Star Motor Coach towing a Jeep Gladiator on our 50th Wedding Anniversary National Parks camping and hiking adventure: Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas & home. At the end of our trip we will have explored 52 national parks - each park is unique and marvelous! Here is our rig camped in the Missouri River bottomlands following the Lewis and Clark trail after viewing the Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis.
Kevin & Michelle Hennessy traveled to Ireland -- a trip postponed by COVID. We spent nine days and among the highlights was a visit to the Cliffs of Moher and a stay in Dromoland Castle. The people were very friendly, the food was delicious and we highly recommend Ireland for your next trip .

Jeff & Lorie Copeland: Traveled from Naples, Italy to Venice with an extra week spent with family in Vienna. We took our 17-year old granddaughter to Italy (and Austria). She loved it despite the “art overload . ” Hopefully we created some lifetime memories. As a typical teen she enjoyed the permission to drink wine for lunch and dinner and buying a shirt at the Hard Rock Cafe in Rome! Lol. We miss all our friends in Marco. See you soon!
Ken & Val Bilbrey spent two weeks in France in June: Paris, Normandy and a cruise on French canals. The attached photo was taken o n the cruise barge.

Kathy & David Caruso: After many years of issues caused by “Superstorm Sandy” in 2012, we had decided to knock down our sweet Lavallette (NJ) cottage and rebuild. The process began in October ‘21 and we moved into our beautiful new home in May ‘22. A phenomenal builder who builds one house at a time! We grew from 1,350 square feet to over 3,500! Plenty of room now for family & friends. We’ve been busy decorating and hosting fun parties & BBQs.

It Happened This Summer Richard, Diana & Claire Louise Apsimon: We left Marco Island at the end of June, and after a classic car tour around the Art Deco areas of Miami and seeing the amazing urban art that’s transformed Wynwood, we returned to the U.K.
Shirley & John Bishop - We never intended to stay the summer in Ohio, but when we first came back to our home state in May, Bentley our Yorkie dog died from an illness she had for over a year. Such sadness which left an emptiness in our hearts. You can never replace a pet but we filled the hole with a baby puppy. We can’t pick her up until August 5 -- she will be eight weeks old then. We have enjoyed our family and spending time with them but now we are waiting for puppy to be weaned from momma. We intend to be back home on the Island the end of August. More time with our kids, they are looking forward to the new pup, so are we, up at night, teaching her name, potty training , all the good stuff that a baby puppy will bring. So our new adventure is just starting especially getting her home to the Island from Ohio -- big drive. Looking forward to seeing everyone when we get back. Take care and enjoy the rest of your summer. 8

As you can see, Rocky (their dog) was exhausted from all the excitement.
