her. The friend pointed out her need, also the remedy and for the first time the young woman learned to know the saving power of Jesus in her life and found good works were insufficient to save. The good works are more mani fest than ever now but from another motive. Salvation by Way of China - “Will you please speak to my cousin. She wants to be a Christian, but does not just understand how.” This was the request that came to a Bible woman one evening. How glad she was to show this seeking soul the way to the Saviour. She had come here from another city to visit, and the cousin, whose guest she was, had planned the visit, praying that during her stay she would find the Saviour. How happy both the girls were that they now had a new tie, a dear close bond to draw them to each other, and how the Bible woman rejoiced that another soul had been born into the kingdom. A missionary to China*, home on furlough, wrote to a Bible woman of a nurse who was coming to Los Angeles. The Bible woman met her, found she was not a Christian, though a church member, explained to her the way of sal vation and was the instrument used of God to bring her. into the light. At once the new-born soul was anxious to be about the King’s business. In the home where she was employed was a little lad about seven years old. He had never been to Sunday School. This young convert sug gested that he be sent to a nearby Sunday School, and the mother agreed to' do so. The nurse had taught the boy a prayer, and one evening as he was kneeling by her side re peating this prayer, the father came in and stood with bowed head until the prayer was finished. As the little one, arose from his knees he said to his father, “I say my prayers every night now, nurse teaches me.” And the fa ther replied, “That is good, my son, that is the right thing to do.” How wonderfully God works from coast to coast, from a missionary to China to a Bible .woman in Los An geles. He sends out the lines to touch the careless and bring them to Himself. The Euodia Classes The High School girls, even after they graduate, remem ber the teaching they received in the Euodia classes. (To those of our readers who are not familiar with this work, it may be well to explain that the name “Euodia”— meaning, “fragrance”— is given to the Bible classes for High School girls, a phase of the work carried on by the Bible women). Just this past summer we have had the joy of having the girls come to us, or writing, for guidance as to future work, some asking us to recommend higher institutions of learn ing, etc. One girl teaching in a Daily Vacation Bible School said she put into practice many of the lessons she received during four years in Euodia. Praise God for the many girls who come into these Bible classes during their fresh man year and stay through thei feur years! The teachers of these classes need your prayers that they may ground these girls in the Word of God so that they may be able to stand true against the Higher Criticism and Modernism they will meet with in their college courses.

No sooner did I reach my home than inquiries began pouring in as to when the classes 'would begin. Inasmuch as one of our workers has been laid aside for awhile, leaving only one worker for Long Beach with its increasing population, it was decided:—after much prayer— to hold at least one Bible class in the evening so that the husbands and sons could attend. We want to tell you of one family which was greatly blessed in this class. The wife came first and slowly but «surely the Word made its way into her life. Finally, con viction became so deep that one morning she looked up and by faith accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour, joy and peace 'came into her life and she became a very earnest personal worker. Her father-in-law was an atheist and her mother-in-law a Catholic. Naturally, she began to pray and work for them, and for her husband especially. Her husband consented to come to the Bible class and it was not long before conviction came to him also. He struggled and fought against it. His money seemed to be in the way. He said, “If I become a Christian, I will have to throw my money in the ocean.” Then, too, he had to en dure the ridicule of his Catholic mother. Prayer went up from many hearts constantly for him, Every class night the invitation was given but no response came from him, until finally the night came when the class was to close for the summer. •The call was made and he arose with triumph in his face, came forward and said, “Secretly, I have already accepted Christ, but now I confess Him before men. I have been shown the way of faith and I accept.” When the class resumed its sessions, after vacation, he was present the first night, with a keen interest. He is now treasurer of the class and is working, together with the wife, for the conversion of the father and mother. “The entrance of thy Word giveth light.” A Neighborhood Class A neighborhood class seemed to bring so few results it was discontinued. After two years, the worker learned of one Christian woman in the class who, through the class, received a burden for her loved ones whom before that she had felt were almost hopeless, and within a short time she had won her loved ones for Christ,— a whole family united in Christ, one life given for missionary work and four lives changed to definite earnest soul winners. Truly God’s Word does not return void.” Saved by Grace A young woman, active in the Bible class, full of good works, thought she was saved, later led away by social ambitions and the world she lost her interest in the things of God. In the midst of a round of pleasure she became more and more restless and unhappy. Finally she went to a Christian friend wondering what was the trouble with
