He also served as the Executive Officer to the Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics at the Pentagon, as an Assignment Officer in the Logistics Branch in the Office of the Army Chief of Staff and as the Ex- ecutive Officer to the Vice Director, Defense Logistics Agency. On three separate occasions, as Lieutenant General Hamilton held commands in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2004, he was Commander, Defense Logistics Agency Contingency Sup- port Team Afghanistan, and in 2010- 2011, he was Commander, United States Forces-Afghanistan Support South/Southwest. In 2013-2014, he was the Commander of the 101 st Sustainment Brigade, 101 st Airborne Division. General Hamilton’s awards in- clude the two Defense Superior Ser- vice Medals, four Legions of Merit, two Bronze Star Medals, three De- fense Meritorious Service Medals,

critical aspects, reflections upon key leadership and significant career milestones which led up to his cur- rent role and responsibility as the 21 st Commanding General of the United States Army Materiel Com- mand. Brother Hamilton is a Spring 1991 initiate of the Fort Lee (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. General Charles R. Hamilton enlisted in the U.S. Army from his hometown Houston, Texas. Upon completing basic and individual training, he was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps after attending Officer Candidate School, where he was selected as the Distinguished Military Graduate. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Virginia State University and Masters’ Degrees in Public Administration from Central Michigan University and Military Studies from Marine Corps Univer- sity. He is also a graduate of a Senior Service College Fellowship – Sec- retary of Defense Corporate Fel- lows Program. General Hamilton assumed his duties as the Com- manding General of United States Army Materiel Command for the United States Army on March 16, 2023. His previous assignments include duties as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 for the United States Army, the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff-G4, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations-G-3 for United States Army Materiel Command, Commander of the 8 th Theater Sustainment Command, the Chief Logistics Officer for United States Forces Korea and the Commander

nine Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, seven Army Achievement Medals, two Good Conduct Med- als, and OEF Campaign Awards. He has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, Air Assault Badge, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identi- fication Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge. In discussing his role, Brother Hamilton stated, “My mission is that Army Materiel Command delivers precision sustainment and mate- riel readiness to an expeditionary global force from the Joint Strategic Support Area to the tactical point of contact. Our vision is to be the premier sustainment enterprise sup- porting a global and land force. This opportunity gives me an opportunity to shape the force into 2040. We will have to re look the way we sup- port our maneuver force, the way we use data to inform decisions not just inform decisions that have already
