Guide Right Celebrates Centennial

U.S. ARMY

We serve our communities and those in need. As an organization comprised of influential people-full of men employed in every field of human endeavor, we must be the voice of those who may not have a voice and we have to be the advocate for the underserved popula- tions who may not be treated fairly or have the necessary resources available to them. Finally, as many of our young black youth and men face injustice, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. con- tinues to be one of many organizations that stands at the forefront of societal change that is representative of the fundamental Values of our Country. Whether it be service in the Army or service in Kappa; I know that we are called to make a difference in the lives of others and providing hope in the lives of our fellow Americans or in a country where there are people who may be oppressed.” “I am thankful to be a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., because of how our Fraternity has also allowed me to find innovative ways to impart tidbits of wisdom, counsel and advice to my three sons. Though they are not currently members of this great Bond; it is my hope and wish that they someday will pursue membership. I do believe it’s not too far in the distant future that they will be members of Kappa… What is important is that they have seen honorable men, leading in their communities and investing in our future generation. As a father of three young men, I continue to expose them to all that our Fraternity stands for so that can see the benefits and difference Kappa Alpha Psi can make in the lives of many who aspire to become members. Additionally, this Fraternity has proven its worth in our Military, Corporate America, Education, Industry, Medi- cine, Professional Athletics-essentially every part of our Country-showcasing Excellence.” “Kappa Alpha Psi leads me to constantly reflect on the words spoken by John F. Kennedy “If not Me; then

Who?” and words penned by Hillel the Elder, “If Not Now, then When?” Kappa has taught me that procrastina- tion is not an option; and we (as an organization) cannot and will not wait in our pursuit to invest in our future young men- the future Leaders of our Nation. Through programs like Kappa League, Guide Right, Kappa Camp, and Undergraduate Leadership Camps, we demonstrate that we will not sit on the sidelines and allow our young Black men to be written off before they are given an opportunity, just a chance, in life. This is our mission in Kappa and I am proud to be a part of this remarkable Bond of fraternity.” φνπ
