Byron C. Lattimore 1969–2022 Financial Consultant, Province and National Committee Member
B yron C. Lattimore (Dallas (TX) Alumni 2002) entered the Chapter Invisible on Sep- tember 19, 2022, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX, with his father, Emerson Lattimore, the 81 st Elder Wat- son Diggs Awardee, at his bedside. Byron Channing Lattimore was born on July 20, 1969, to Emerson and the late Serita (née Doyle) Lat- timore. Lattimore’s early years were in New Orleans, TX. His family moved to Dallas, TX, where Lattimore would live the rest of his life. A graduate of Tyler Street Christian Academy in Dallas, he attended Texas Southern Univer- sity (TSU) in Houston, TX, where he graduated in 1992 with a B.A degree in business administration. While at TSU, Lattimore was a member of the Ameri- can Marketing Association, Phi Beta Lambda, a non-profit association of stu- dents preparing for careers in business- related fields. In 2008, he earned an MBA from the University of Dallas. Lattimore worked for Bank of America, Aflac, and Aegon. In 2011, he joined TIAA-CREF in 2011, where he managed TIAA-CREF retirement plans, after-tax investments and insurance products, and investment plans. He earned Series 6 FINRA and Series 63 professional licenses.
during the administration of the 31 st Grand Polemarch Dwayne M. Murray, Esq., (2007-2011). He also served as Fraternity’s Chairman of the Fraternity’s National Pan-Hellenic Committee un- der the 33 rd Grand Polemarch Thomas L. Battles, Jr. (2015-2019). Lattimore had the opportunity to serve as the featured speaker at several fraternity celebrations held in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Dallas (TX) Alumni Polemarch Darin Daniels: "I have had the opportunity to work with Byron Lattimore for eight years. I can say that his leadership skills carried over to his professional self. There were plenty of conversations trying to make our chapter and our Fraternity better. We also shared plenty of sporting events enjoying a cigar while pondering the so- lutions that would improve brotherhood and retention. I'm going to miss calling my brother to just watch a game." Brother Byron C. Lattimore is pre- ceded by his mother, the former Serita S. Doyle. He is survived by his father, an aunt Lynetta Haynes-Oliver, numer- ous cousins and other relatives, DAC, and TSU Alumni.
Lattimore was a member of the board of directors for the African Ameri- can Museum of Dallas, the National Black MBA Association, Toastmasters International, the Association for Finan- cial Professionals, and the TSU Alumni Association. Since 1996, he also served as the Chairman of the Board of Faith Cooperative Federal Credit Union. He was also Vice Chairman of the South Dallas-Fair Park Trust Fund. Lattimore had an extensive fraternity record of active participation, support, and leadership. A Life Member of the Fraternity, Lattimore was a longtime Dallas (TX) Alumni Chapter (DAC) member who served in every chapter office. Following his father’s foot- steps, Lattimore led DAC as its 35 th Polemarch from 2009 to 2011. Since 2014, he had served as Chairman of the Guide Right Foundation of Dal- las (GRFD), Inc., which serves as the philanthropic arm of DAC. Lattimore spearheaded a St. Jude Sunday of Hope partnership between DAC and Friendship-West Baptist Church. He served in 2011 as Province Reporter for the Kappa Alpha Psi Journal for the Southwestern Province. Lattimore served on the Fraternity’s National Meeting Planning Committee for several Grand Chapter Meetings
