Welcome to Year 7
As your Year Leader, I am here to support you with your pastoral needs. This means I am here to listen, to help, and to guide you through any challenges you may face, whether that’s settling in, friendships, wellbeing, organisation, or simply having someone to talk to. My role is to make sure you feel safe, happy, and supported so that you can thrive both academically and personally. My name is Mrs Thurston, and I am your Year Leader. I am absolutely delighted to welcome you as you begin this exciting new chapter of your journey. Starting secondary school is a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel a mixture of excitement and nerves. Please remember — you are not alone.
Year 7 is a year full of new opportunities — new subjects, new teachers, new friendships, and new experiences. I encourage you to get involved, try your best, be kind to others, and most importantly, be yourself.
I am really looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. My door is always open, and I am here whenever you need support.
Welcome to the start of a fantastic year!

Welcome to the Wellington Academy!
We are really looking forward to meeting you all in September and getting to know you as you start your journey with us in year 7.
I am Mr Kennedy and I am the Head of Key Stage 3. I oversee the pastoral, safeguarding, attendance and academic progress of 600 KS3 students from Year 7 all the way to Year 9. I work closely with your Year Leader and will be there for you to talk to if you are worried, in need of support, or even if you'd like to share something really amazing about yourself. At the Wellington Academy we will expect the very best from you so be prepared to be challenged! Each and every one of you will become a member of our Wellington family and we want you all to be successful, happy and to feel welcomed.
I am really looking forward to seeing you in September!
