Upgrades to eliminate sewage smell "$56"- * 54 r /&84 The City of Clarence-Rockland sewage treatment plant will undergo an upgrade with the aim of eliminating an occasional odor situation. which encouraged algae growth, reducing the plant’s ability to treat sewage waste until the accumulated residue was removed. The upgrade plan proposes installation of a new headworks facility at the plant, which will improve removal of grit and other solids before they enter the treatment tanks. This will improve the treatment process and reduce the chance of odors. A study from the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) indicated one of the main causes of the problem was due to accumulation of grit and solids in the collection tanks. The city will schedule a public information centre session in autumn for the report, including any possible alternative solutions. The goal is to have the final solution ready for approval by winter to allow for upgrade construction work to start in spring 2017.
Some 118 golfers showed their support for a great cause by participating in the first annual Jonathan Pitre Golf Classic.The event, whichwas held at Falcon Ridge Golf Club inOttawa on Friday July 22, was organized as a fundraiser in support of DEBRA Canada. DEBRA is an organisation dedicated to helping those who, like Jonathan, are afflicted by Epidermolysis Bullosa. Jonathanwill be leaving with his mother, Tina Boileau, for Minnesota in a fewweeks to begin a blood andmarrow transplant that may help stop the progress of this skin disease. —photo Danic Legault

New ambulance station for Embrun? There may be a new ambulance station for Embrun in the future. Michel Chrétien, emergency services director for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR), presented a brief verbal report to the counties’ emergency services committee on the status of the project. Chrétien reported discussing the matter with Russell Township officials, including a suggestion that the township buy a building suitable to house an ambulance station. Since 2001 the UCPR has built its own stations and then rented the premises to itself at a reasonable cost. But now changes to the senior government public sector amortization regulations forbid local government from long-term rental of their own facilities for inventory purposes. Chrétien stated that “it is now more profitable for us to be a tenant.”The municipality also profits from having the counties as a guaranteed tenant for one of its buildings.A similar proposal may be presented to the City of Clarence- Rockland regarding its counties’ ambulance station. – Gregg Chamberlain L’ancienne prison de l’Orignal vient de concevoir un nouveau jeu appelé, Prison Break pour le moins orignal et unique en son nom.
