This is the theme of James 1:5-8. These early Chris­ tians had to go through some tre­ mendous trials. Yet they had the presence of the Lord in their midst. It is simple folly and spiritual ig­ norance to depend upon earthly

riches and achievements. Such will always fail. Perhaps the two most sought af­ ter commodities in every age are wisdom and wealth. Possession of one does not necessarily mean possession of the other. Some are like the fellow who commiserated, "I wish I had been born wealthy instead of wise. As it is I have been cheated out of both!" While we may not have a tremendously high I.Q. as born again children of Cod Page 45
