More than just a building to house history, the Ohio History Center aims to help history come alive with Ohio Village. This carefully recreated 19th-century village invites guests to experience Ohio as it was in 1890, with shops, old-fashioned games, entertainment at the town hall, and even baseball games during the summer months. Ohio Village also offers special fall and winter events, including All Hallows’ Eve and Dickens of a Christmas. It’s like time traveling without a Delorean. There are plenty of reasons to visit Columbus, and the Ohio History Center or Ohio Village will certainly make any trip unforgettable. If you’re driving down from Cleveland, you can even stop by Grandpa’s Cheesebarn right off I-76 at Exit 14. This old- fashioned cheese and sweet shop is a worthwhile pitstop for foodies and history buffs alike. The events of the past built the present as we know it today. Organizations like the Ohio History Connection and their Ohio History Center offer us the opportunity to learn from our history and use that knowledge of built a brighter future.
