THE K I N G ’ S BUS I NESS

together behind closed doors, because they were afraid of the J ews . Of course they were talking about thè wonderful events of the morning! Sud denly the Lord Jesus was there in their midst. “Peace be unto you,” He said, and then showed them His hands and His side. “Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord” (v. 20). For some reason, Thomas wasn’t there. Later, when the disciples told him that they had seen Jesus, he wouldn’t believe them. He wanted to see for himself. Do you know any boys and girls just like Thomas? Eight days later Jesus appeared to His disciples, and this time Thomas was present, too. Jesus said to him, “Reach hither thy finger, and behold my handstand reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.” Thomas answered, “My Lord and my God.” Then Jesus said, “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” We haven’t seen the Lord Jesus, but we believe, and some glad day We shall see Him face to face. It always makes the Lord Jesus happy when boys and girls believe on Him even though He is in heaven and cannot be seen just now. ..................... ...............

Object Lesson D elivering a D oubter

OBJECTS: A flat-sided bottle, such as is used for shaving lotion, a small bottle'filled with a solution of sodium hyposulphite, and a bottle of iodine. (Cut the outline of a heart from paper and glue on the side of the flat bottle. Put enough water in this bottle to cover the heart. Cut a cross from red paper and glue on the side of the b o t t l e containing sodium hyposul phite. This drug may be secured at any drug store.) LESSON: This bottle reminds me of Thomas. As long as Christ was living, he was happy. The death of Christ changed him, just as this bottle is changed by this dark-colored jpoison. (Pour in some of the iodine.) Thomas was different from the other disciples, in that he refused to believe in the resurrection and be comforted. When told of the resurrection of Christ, he said, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe”- (John 20:25). His heart w a s:filled with doubts, just as this bottle is filled with poison. He continued in this doubting condi tion for a whole week. What a sad week it must have been for him! The others had been comforted by having seen the risen Lord.

It was a glad day, indeed, when Jesus again appeared unto the dis ciples, Thomas b e i n g present, and said, “Peace be unto you.” Watch this bottle as I pour into it from the bottle on" which there is a red cross. The dark color is gone, and the bottle is clear again. This is what happened to Thomas’ doubts. When he saw the risen Christ, a ir doubts were gone forever. He said to Christ, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). •Tt is surprising how Christ is a cure for* all doubts. Whenever a n y o n e comes to Him with doubts, He imme diately causes the doubts to disap pear. Some people feel it is a sign of great learning when they doubt the truth fulness of the Word of God. They are proud of their doubting. But none of them is really happy, doing this, any more than Thomas was happy while there was doubt in his heart concern ing Jesus. Trust in the Lord Jesus brings joy.
