Fictional Lawyers We Wouldn’t Want Representing Us
A great attorney will do all they can for their clients, but an even better one knows how to do it without blurring ethical lines. Yet some fictional lawyers haven’t learned this ability. In between debating whether we’d rather have Atticus Finch or Jack McCoy represent us in the fictional courtroom, we discovered there are a few fictional attorneys we don’t trust. Tom Hagen From ‘The Godfather’ a good chance you will make the list of dubious lawyers. Tom Hagen’s lack of Sicilian heritage doesn’t diminish the trust the Corleone family has in his ability to represent and defend the family’s nefarious business deeds. However, we admit that Hagen’s resourcefulness makes us wonder what kind of lawyer he could have been if he hadn’t been adopted into the Corleone family at age 11. Matt Murdock From ‘Daredevil’ Lawyer by day, superhero by night, Matt Murdock is our most enticing attorney to make the list — and likely the most controversial. While we can’t argue against the crime- When you have crooked judges on your side and set up hits for mobsters, there’s
fighting skills Murdock possesses when he transforms into vigilante Daredevil, we cannot get onboard with a defense lawyer hunting bad guys. That’s either a lawyer fishing for clients or a conflict of interest. Either way, as the recent Netflix series has shown us, Murdock can often struggle between devoting time to his clients and fighting crime. Fletcher Reede From ‘Liar Liar ’ In this after-school special turned turning into reality, Reede is a cold, manipulating attorney who is willing to lie to get his way. Reede’s willingness to lie in the courtroom is cunning, but it can also put his clients in danger. Any lying done on the part of your attorney can be grounds for dismissal, reprimand, or criminal charges. Until his most recent life lesson, Reede was putting his clients in grave danger. beloved classic movie, Fletcher Reede learns the ultimate lesson of honesty. But prior to his son’s birthday wish
You deserve an attorney who is going to (ethically) fight for you. Find out how the attorneys at Winston & Damman can help you by calling (810) 966-9467 or visiting WinstonDamman.com.
