GROWING THEIR FOOTPRINT, TOO Western Dakota’s focus isn’t just out west. “We’ve strategically grown this school with South Dakota in mind,” says President Ericson. “We’re listening to what growth industries want and we’re encouraging our students to take their skills home and put them to work in their own communities.” Speaking of investment, Western Dakota Technical College just kicked off their 80-million-dollar “Powering the Workforce Gateway Campaign,” a four-phase strategic plan. With it, they will expand their Badlands building accommodating Automotive Technology, Welding, Machining, CDL, and Light Diesel. The new Construction Trades building will be a 50,000-square-foot facility housing Electrical, Environmental Engineering, Hydro and Aquaponic

Labs, Construction, Plumbing, Architectural and Engineering Technology, and HVAC. The capital campaign also supports the new Gunsmithing facility and health care spaces expansion. The investment grows more than just the footprint of the campus. “This is where we have to be for our workforce and our students,” says President Ericson. “It’s a very exciting time here.” It turns out it’s not just the Hills that are calling. It’s the future calling. You could say Western Dakota Technical College is answering the call.

It turns out it’s not just The Hills that are calling.
