The harvest begins as early as late August and lasts until the end of October, depending on the region. - Everywhere until the last day of the harvest the peo- ple look to the sky, hoping for hot and dry weather in or- der for the grapes to accumulate enough sugar and ma- ture slowly. When things go as they should, autumn is joy and work. Workers, friends and relatives gather together, head to the vineyards and pick the grapes with songs and jokes all day. It’s a tough job, but it has its charms – says Ms Katić.
