Strani gosti, naročito znalci, neizostavno moraju da probaju tamjaniku i prokupac
ci kad puste glasove i zapevaju: „Aj, berem grožđe, bi- ram tamjaniku“, „Kopa cura vinograd“… Kako veselje ne ide bez momaka, ore se i njihove, manje ljubavne pesme. Autumn in Serbia is celebrated with grape balls, wine fountains and lots of songs. The slender legs of girls stomp on grapes in barrels, just as they once did. Of course, today they are not doing this to seek a husband among the winegrowers. Those who God endowed with musicality have a different missi- on. They sing and revive almost forgotten songs on the glory of grapes and wine. The whole body tingles when they unleash their voices and sing: “Oh I’m pic- king grapes, I choose Tamjanika”, “Dig lass the vi- neyard”... As there is no joy without the boys, they sing their songs, which are less about love. To them, as the songs go, it is more important “one more litre”, and a loud call to the “innkeeper’s wife, pour more wine”. After the harvest, the juices of purple and gold fruits are converted into the best wines, whose secrets are known only to winemakers. Today all grape varieties in some form can be fo- und worldwide. - When we are visited by foreign guests, especia- lly experts, it is a must for them to try Tamjanika and Prokupac, autotochonos grape varieties, but also to see the kind of results achieved here by Merlot, Ca- bernet, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling. For us, we are happy when they say that Serbia really was and should be a wine country – notes Đurđa Ka- tić proudly.
