I also recently shot the graduate film of Katarina Ko- ljević. I read the script and liked it a lot, so I said – why not?! The whole team was kids, they spoke formally to me, so I wanted to strangle them (laughs). It was very nice. I tried not to patronise them and to leave them to enjoy the freedom when you can also make mistakes. The film is called “Life lasts for three days” and I hope Katarina will get a good grade. People have the impression that you never left here, because the films you star in are still repe- ated today. However, the fact is that you rarely shoot in Serbia? - I guess they think I’m always busy; perhaps they have a prejudice that they cannot afford me, but that really isn’t true. When I like something, I’m ready to come anytime. I am satisfied with my career in Lon- don and the fact that I work, but I know where my he- art lies. I left here late, and I never even planned to go, and the career I realised at home is the dearest to me. This love that I feel when I return after 16 years, which is how long I haven’t lived in Serbia, also confuses me slightly. I’m glad to see how people smile when they see me; I awaken in them some silly, good feeling. However, a combination of unusual circum- stances led you out into the world? - I went to England to film the drama “Warriors” with executive director Peter Kozminsky. The series was filmed in the Czech Republic, where the news of the bombing reached me. We returned to London to fi- nish recording, and the whole time I felt terribly guilty that I was in a safe place while my whole life was un- der such a horrific threat. So my life abroad started qu- ite dramatically. It was only after those dramatic few months in London that a whole new world opened up to me and I felt a desire for adventure and challenges. I got a role in the series “Weiss” and I fell in love with my Julian. Thank God, we are together to this day and it’s nice for us. So, love proved decisive? Then love led you acro- ss the ocean, into the heart of the film industry... - Julian started working for HBO, so we were in- vited to go to Los Angeles. Julian had already previo- usly shot the the first season of the series “Entourage”, and I then stayed in London. I was pretty lonely, be- cause when children are young you have a brand new rhythm. Therefore, when the call came for a second se- ason, we all went together to Los Angeles. The chil- dren were small and I did not want to be apart from them, so I practically went to Hollywood to be a mot- her. We stayed for a good eight years, thinking we’d come back, but new jobs appeared constantly. You have worked with world-famous actors. What are your impressions like? - They are completely normal people. The better they are, the more relaxed they are. Of course, I have met those who have too much ego and self-love, and so they think they are better than others. However, those who I love and appreciate have shown themse- lves in the best light. Besides all the wonderful roles that you have played, one that is not a film role is still the dea- rest to you... - Motherhood is my best role. It has changed me in every possible way, and through my children I
