Charolais bulls have been used the last several years also. With 20” of rainfall, more drought than not, the cows run on short grass, buffalo, blue gamma and sand love grass. They run 6000 acres of farm ground and grass. Tempera- tures vary greatly in this part of Kansas, from sub zero temps to 110 degrees, blizzards, and drought- they have made it work. Both are graduates of Kansas State University and have a son, Duncan, in aviation in Nebraska, along with daughter, Janet, who is the current Logan High School FFA Ag Education teacher. Janet has an incredible FFA program at Logan High School, completely “out of the box” thinking for her students. Great family. Great folks and has a Fink Border collie that Margaret has trained for several things.
