Eugene Furey Eugene F. Furey, of Lakewood, IL, passed away on July 23, 2025 at the age of 84. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Gene attended Sacred Heart grade school in Newark, NJ, and Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange, NJ, graduating in 1958. Following graduation, Gene served in the United States Air Force, Strategic Air Command from 1960-1964, Gene and wife Judy were married in Negaunee, MI, on September 11, 1965. They would be celebrating 60 years of marriage this year.
Gene served on the Newark, NJ Fire Department, and graduated from Seton Hall University in 1968. Gene had a long career in the metal container and chemical coatings industry. He worked in decorating, sales and sales management roles at Continental Can Company, DeSoto, Technical Coatings and Watson Standard. Gene was celebrating being member of the IMDPA/IMDA/NMDA for 50 years this year. He is a past President of the IMDPA, Outstanding
Member of the Year, long time Board and Executive Board member, served on numerous committees and one of only a few to ever receive the IMDPA Presidential Award for his numerous efforts for the betterment of the Association. Troy Allen Troy, 88, was an IMDPA privileged member and joined the Association in 1995. Troy worked in the industry at various locations and in numerous roles for 53 years. Troy served in the U.S. Army and he volunteered as a U.S. Water Rescue Dive Team member for 4 years. Troy was quite the character with always sharing stories of his times spent in the plants.
