Members of council, municipal staff and the Realterm Energy team were gathered at the Russell Township Hall, on Thursday August 25, to celebrate the completion of the streetlights retrofit throughout the Township of Russell. During the summer, every single streetlight throughout Russell township was replaced with LED lights with the project being completed in August, on schedule. While this project was expensive, with a total cost of approximately 489,500$, the savings it will incur will pay off the sumwithin the next 3 years. These new LED lights represent a 66 % savings in energy use as well as 80 per cent savings inmaintenance costs while also beingmuch brighter, and therefore more effective.
