This commitment to community service naturally rubbed off on me. I began volunteering at an early age, joining the Key Club in high school, where I found joy in helping others and making a positive impact. That early exposure to service shaped my belief in giving back, a principle I carry forward in my work today. Scan the QR code below to check out my story behind Dahl Law Group. The Dahl Law Group: A Legacy of Family, Business, and Careful Planning
My story is not the typical attorney story. Many lawyers are driven by tragedy; an injustice or hardship that propels them to make a difference for others. But for me, my inspiration comes from a place of deep love for my family, respect for their hard work, and the power of proper planning that held us together and allowed us to prosper throughout generations. First, my family’s passion for service runs deep. Both of my parents and both grandparents were lifelong Rotarians, dedicated to giving back to the community. My grandfather, Dane, was always deeply involved in local affairs and even ran for mayor of our hometown twice. After my brothers and I moved on to start our own lives, my parents continued their dedication to service, even hosting high school students through the international exchange program.
Growing up in a small Midwestern town in Central Wisconsin, I experienced firsthand how family values weren’t just spoken, we lived them every single day. My family was middle-class, and like many families, we went through tough times. But no matter the challenges, we stuck together, learning the importance of perseverance and moral character. My family’s roots are deeply intertwined with business ownership. My grandparents, Dane and Ellen Dahl,
started Dahl’s Floral Garden in 1948, a family-run greenhouse that holds some of my fondest memories. I spent countless days wandering among the plants, watching my grandmother, aunt, and uncle (who helped out at the greenhouse) tend to their work, always with a sense of pride and purpose. His father (my great-grandfather) was also a florist and taught him everything he knew. After my grandfather passed away, my grandmother eventually successfully exited the business, selling the greenhouse to a third party. My mother carried the business owner and entrepreneurial torch as a real estate agent. I often tagged along on her showings, absorbing her tenacity and drive, which eventually led to her being recognized as one of the top Realtors in the area we lived. My father worked in

What Immediate Tax Changes Are in Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill?
Did You Know? Flowers aren’t just pretty to look at; they’re full of surprises, hidden science, and clever survival tricks. From greenhouse secrets to old-school care hacks, here are five quick facts and tips to make you see blooms in a whole new way.
President Donald Trump’s new One Big Beautiful Bill Act reshapes key tax rules for individuals, families, and business owners. At Dahl Law Group, we’re already applying these changes to help California families and business owners maximize their benefits. EXTENDING THE ESTATE TAX AND GIFT EXEMPTION Starting in 2026, estate and gift tax exemptions will rise to $15 million for individuals and $30 million for couples, up from $13.99 million and $27.98 million, respectively. This change offers more flexibility for lifetime gifts and inheritance planning, especially for business owners. EXPANDING QUALIFIED SMALL-BUSINESS STOCK BENEFITS The new law raises the QSBS capital gain exclusion from $10 million to $15 million, with inflation adjustments in 2026. It adds partial exclusions after three or four years and eases eligibility rules, enabling more small businesses to attract capital and plan exits. INCREASED STANDARD, BONUS, AND OTHER DEDUCTIONS The new law boosts deductions across the board. In 2025, the standard deduction rises to $15,750 for singles and $31,500 for couples, with higher bonus deductions for older adults. The SALT cap increases to $40,000, offering major relief for high-tax state residents, before reverting in 2030. Also
returning is the charitable deduction for non-itemizers by up to $1,000 for individuals and $2,000 for couples. TAX CREDITS FOR PARENTS The Child Tax Credit rises from $2,000 to $2,200 per child, with the $1,700 refundable portion and future inflation adjustments. A new “Trump Account” offers a one-time $1,000 credit for each child born between 2025 and 2028 to encourage early savings for education or health care. INCOME AND PAYCHECK TAX CHANGES Two new deductions target income earned through tips and overtime. From 2025 through 2028, workers can deduct up to $25,000 annually from tips and up to $12,500 annually from overtime pay. There are phase-outs due to those earning higher income, but these provisions could significantly impact taxpayers in industries like hospitality, retail, and construction, where variable income is common. GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR TAXES WITH THE RIGHT TAX STRATEGY The Trump administration’s new tax bill brings sweeping changes impacting families, businesses, estate plans, and long-term goals. Reviewing these updates now can help you position your assets for maximum benefit. At Dahl Law Group, we understand how tax strategy, business ownership, and family wealth intersect, and we’re here to ensure these changes work for your future.
• The world’s largest flower is the Rafflesia arnoldii. They can grow to be over 3 feet wide!
• Roses last longer when the stems are cut at a 45-degree angle, as it helps them drink more water.
• Tulips keep growing even after they’re cut!
• Greenhouses work like nature’s incubators, trapping warmth and light so flowers can thrive year round.
• Some flowers close at night, a behavior called nyctinasty, to protect their pollen.

CRT Strategies That Preserve Wealth and Strengthen Your Legacy
Your retirement account may be your largest asset, but taxes can erode its value for heirs. Naming a Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) as beneficiary can change that, providing tax benefits, lifetime income for loved ones, and leaving the remainder to a cause you value. Before updating your beneficiary form, consider how a CRT could boost family income, cut taxes, and strengthen your legacy. WHAT IS A CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUST? A Charitable Remainder Trust is an irrevocable trust that pays income to chosen beneficiaries for a set term or life, then directs remaining assets to a selected charity. As a charitable entity, it offers an immediate tax deduction and tax-free growth. You set the payout rate and timing, aligning the trust with your financial and philanthropic goals, combining gifting, growth, and estate planning in one tool. MAXIMIZING CHARITABLE GIFTING THROUGH TAX-FREE DISTRIBUTIONS Traditional retirement plans defer taxes only until distribution, leaving beneficiaries with a large tax bill. Transferring these accounts to a CRT at death makes the balance tax-exempt. The trustee can sell assets without immediate taxes, reinvest, and grow
the portfolio tax-free, compounding returns faster. Beneficiaries receive annual payments, either a fixed sum or a percentage of value, spreading taxes over time. The remainder goes to charity, often exceeding what a direct estate payout could provide. EXCEEDING THE 10-YEAR DISTRIBUTION RULE FOR STRETCH IRAS The SECURE Act now requires most non-spouse heirs to empty inherited IRAs within 10 years, accelerating taxes and potentially raising their tax bracket. A CRT avoids this by receiving the assets as a charitable gift and paying beneficiaries over their lifetime or up to 20 years. This spreads taxes, smooths market volatility, and ensures the remaining principal supports your chosen charity. EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES TO MAXIMIZE THE VALUE OF YOUR LEGACY Simply going through the motions in estate planning can leave your legacy vulnerable to taxes and financial risks. At Dahl Law Group, we help California business owners and families create effective plans to protect assets and keep wealth in the family. finance, balancing a demanding job while earning his MBA, another testament to the value of hard work that runs deep in my family. ... CONTINUED FROM COVER It wasn’t just their businesses that shaped me, though. My parents and grandparents also own rental properties, which gave me an early understanding of real estate and the importance of managing and maintaining something for the long term. I still remember mowing lawns and helping with landscaping throughout my childhood years. It was part of our family’s way of instilling a strong work ethic from a young age. One of the most significant lessons my family taught me was the power of planning. My grandfather, Dane, passed away when I was very young. Despite his early death, he left behind something incredibly valuable: a Will and a clear plan. That planning kept our family intact, preserving relationships that might have otherwise fallen apart. It wasn’t just about money or property. Instead, it was about ensuring our family’s bond remained strong across generations. That experience left a deep impression on me, showing me firsthand the importance of estate planning, not just as a financial tool but as a way to safeguard the most important thing in life — family. At Dahl Law Group, that’s exactly what we strive to do. Our passion goes beyond handling legal matters. We work to help business owners, people like my grandfather and parents, preserve their
family values, protect their businesses, and minimize taxes so they can focus on what truly matters. I want every family to experience the sense of security and peace of mind my family had because of my grandfather’s thoughtful planning. We pride ourselves on our down-to-earth approach, our deep understanding of business ownership and real estate, and our genuine care for our clients. When you work with us, you’ll feel that we’re not just lawyers; we’re partners who care about your legacy as much as you do. Our team responds within one business day, and with our expertise in tax law, we ensure your planning isn’t just done, we ensure it’s done right, with a long- term focus on preserving both your wealth and your family. Our clients often tell us they sleep better at night knowing their affairs are in order, their families will be taken care of, and that the “what ifs” have been handled. For business owners, this means freeing up mental space to focus on what they love: growing their business, spending more meaningful and quality time with family, and just generally enjoying life knowing that their legacy is secure. At the Dahl Law Group, we’re not just helping you plan for the future. We’re helping you create a better one, for yourself and the generations to come.
