Carl F. Younger COD and Thelma J. Tyler SGA Make Donation to National Museum

T he Carl F. Younger COD (SGIG Fred Joyner, Deputy for the Orient) and the Thelma J. Tyler SGA (LL, Brenda Makins, SGLLR) along with SGIG Kevin Brittingham presented a check for $2000.00 to the Na- tional Museum of African American History & Culture. The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a Smithsonian Institution Museum locat- ed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in the United States. It was established in December 2003 and opened its permanent home in September 2016 with a ceremony led by President Barack Obama.

“ It has been said time and time again that the past is our heritage, the present is our responsibility, but the future is our challenge. I ’ d like to give a big thank you to all who accepted the challenge and donated to pre- serve our heritage for future generations. I ’ d also like to give thanks to the committee members.

Remember, this is only the beginning. WE ARE THE ORIENT OF DC! ”
