like a demon. He was supposed to be the treasurer o f the first church of Christ but had stolen from the funds. When the final test came, he was more interested in a few coins than in that loving Lord who had called him to be His follower. “ Man looketh on the out ward appearance but the Lord looketh on the heart.” He will not have pro fessing orthodoxy when the heart is not His and the love is diverted to some other idol. God demands sincerity and uprightness of soul. He who is not for Christ is against Him; there can be no middle path. praise and worship. Praise is one occu pation which will be carried beyond the tomb and will continue throughout eter nity. The song of the Lord begins here at conversion and continues over there in the glory land. We shall never cease to praise Him “who ever liveth to make intercession for us.” We worship and praise Him now for the blessings which we see. Beyond the tomb we shall wor ship and praise Him for the things we could not understand. Satan seeks al ways to stifle the song, to hush the wor ship, and to seal the lips that praise the God of heaven.

The word Judah means worship and it was inscribed upon the emerald green stone on the breastplate of the priest. The rainbow round about the throne in Revelation 4 is a green rain bow indicating the eternal character of A T the time of Amos, Israel was per meated with idolatry although she carried on an outward worship o f God. She went through the form but her heart was not in it. Her lips were saying one thing to God while another thing was in the heart. She was keeping up a pre tense of orthodoxy while nourishing heterodoxy. We find the same situation today in religious circles. Romanism puts on a great show of bowing, kissing, pa rading, and proclaiming her religion but behind the scenes are wicked practices. Protestantism is following the same path in many quarters. Salvation is de nied. Christ is neglected. The Word of God is avoided and the heart of God is hurt. Let us pray for a return to the life of faith and to the old time gospel that affects the heart. Form will not do. There must be life from God. The talk and the walk should corre spond. What we say outwardly should be an honest expression of what we feel inwardly. What we say to God should be a true statement of the attitude of the heart. This was not true in the days of Amos nor is it true today. Many who proclaim their faith in God from pulpits do not believe in the deity o f Christ, the verbal inspiration of the Scriptures, and the need of regeneration. Many of those who partake of the Lord’s Supper deny the value of the bread and the virtue of the blood of Christ. Our Lord de spises this hypocritical profession; He demands truth in the inward parts. ! There should not be room in the pulpit for a hypocrite, an atheist, or a modern ist.
