MEET OUR TEAM
Selecting someone to represent you and your family at one of the most stressful times in your life is a huge decision. Since our newsletter has grown in distribution sevenfold, I wanted to let you know our background.
practice representing people in 1996. For her leap of faith when Emma and Clare were under the age of 2, I am forever grateful. We thank all of our clients who have allowed us to represent them over the years. We are humbled that folks whose lives have been shattered have put their trust in us to fix the wrong imposed on them. We owe our success to your resilience, courage, and faith you have placed in us. We know that without great clients, our success would be limited. I am especially grateful to our hardworking and dedicated team here at the firm. Pat Cummings is in his third year of practice. During his three years of practice, Pat has taken and passed the Illinois and Wisconsin bar examinations, taken over 100 depositions, has tried and won four (yes, FOUR) jury trials, and prevailed on his first appeal to the Illinois Appellate Court. Kate Refine runs our office with diligence, dedication, and a great sense of humor; plus, she is terrific with our clients. If you call our law firm, usually the first one you speak with is Kate. Our clients are lucky to have her on their side. Our colleague Nathan Marchese has assisted us with numerous cases over the years. His excellent writing ability and legal knowledge have helped us tremendously. Nathan is a difference-maker. We are also thankful to our growing alumni of Shannon Law Group. From our first employee, Rose Sweeney, to our most recent employees, Patti Zimmerman, Kathy Crane and Ronda Johnson, and everyone in between, we owe you a huge debt of gratitude. To our present clients, we thank you for entrusting us with your case. To you who are getting to know us, feel free to browse our website at shannonlawgroup.com or order our book, “Transportation Law, Rights, and Injuries: Charting Your Course of Legal Action.” We will send it to you free of charge. If you would like to meet with us, we are available for a free consultation at a time convenient for you. Just give Kate a call.

During that time, Michelle has run the Shannon household with grace and class while I represented people at the law practice. We have been blessed with six children: Emma, Clare, Kate, Will, Nora, and Johnny. Our lives revolve around our family. My parents, Tom and JoAnne Shannon, had 10 children in Yakima, Washington. (I wrote about my parents in the June newsletter). I am number nine and extremely grateful to my parents and to my siblings, Tom, Mary Jo, Pat, Kathleen, John, Maureen, Anne, and Terry. All of them continue to teach me daily what it is like to be a good person. My parents’ third born, Joseph William, lived only two days, but his spirit still impacts me to this day. I believe that he lives on in each member of our family. I was very fortunate to attend University of Portland and University of Notre Dame Law School. I have practiced law in Illinois for most of my career and have been admitted to practice in a number of other states for cases throughout the years. The professional success I have enjoyed is derived from many factors. I have had tremendous support from my wife, Michelle, in allowing me to venture off the big law firm path and begin a
