du Québec à l’est, juste à l’extérieur du village de Saint-Eugène, et va jusqu’à la limite est de la ville d’Ottawa, en passant par les cantons de Hawkesbury Est, Cham- QMBJO 5IF/BUJPO "MGSFEFU1MBOUBHFOFU FU Clarence-Rockland. Le sentier traverse principalement des terres agricoles, avec quelques zones fores- tières, et longe une ancienne voie ferrée, ce qui le rend assez plat. La surface de la piste est principalement constituée de poussière de pierre, bien qu’elle soit pavée près des agglomérations rurales. L’ancienne gare de Bourget et le pont qui enjambe la SJWJÍSF4PVUI/BUJPOQSÍTEF1MBOUBHFOFU sont des sites remarquables le long de la piste. Avec les Six pavillons sont situés le long de la piste à Saint-Eugène, Vankleek Hill, Plantagenet, Alfred, Bourget et Hammond. Le sentier est utilisé à diverses fins, notamment pour le cyclisme, la marche et la motoneige (en hiver). Les VTT et l’équitation ne sont pas autorisés, mais l’équitation est autorisée sur le Prescott-Russell Trail Link. La route emprunte l’ancienne plate-forme de la ligne du Canadien Pacifique entre 0UUBXBFU.POUSÊBM RVJBQQBSUFOBJUÆ7JB Rail jusqu’en 2021. Les rails ont été enlevés en 1986 et le sentier a été inauguré en 2006. L’accord entre Via et Prescott-Russell
RUSC’S SOCCERFEST 2024 SET FOR AUG. 24 AND 25
La dernière année a été très occupée pour l’équipe derrière le Sentier récréatif de Prescott-Russell. L’an dernier, plusieurs activités et événe- ments ont été organisés au profit du Sentier récréatif de Prescott-Russell, notamment un marché champêtre à Bourget et des collectes de fonds chez Beau’s à Vankleek Hill, au vignoble de Vankleek Hill et à Broken Stick Brewing à Hammond. Parmi les autres faits marquants de l’an- née écoulée, citons l’ouverture du nouveau pavillon Alfred, rendue possible en partie grâce à une subvention d’investissement de 150 000 $ de la Fondation Trillium de l’Ontario (FTO) du gouvernement provincial, et l’intégration au sentier transcanadien. « Il semble qu’il se passe toujours quelque chose lorsqu’il s’agit du sentier », a déclaré Eric Collard, directeur général du sentier SÊDSÊBUJG1SFTTDPUU3VTTFMMj/PVTUSBWBJMMPOT continuellement sur de nouveaux projets dans le but de poursuivre notre croissance. The Rockland United Soccer Club (RUSC)’s season end celebration is scheduled for later this month. The celebration, known as Soccerfest, brings together the local soccer club’s coaches, players, parents and the larger Clarence-Rockland soccer community to celebrate the end of another successful season. “Soccerfest has been going on since 1992 and always at the end of our soc- cer season and is always a big highlight for UIFLJET uTBJE+VMJF$PUF UIF364$TPGàDF administrator who helps organize the year end celebration. This year’s Soccerfest takes place on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 at the Canadian International Hockey Academy, located at 8710 County Road 17 in Rockland. “It’s a really, great and fun family event,” said Anne Lizotte, one of Soccerfest’s orga- nizers. “It’s a wonderful culmination from the year that was, and it’s great to bring our soccer community together this way.” Soccerfest 2024 provides more than just a year-end tournament. Parlement en tant que député d'arrière-ban avant d'être nommé secrétaire parlemen- taire du ministre de l'Agriculture en 2021, un poste qu'il occupe depuis lors. M. Drouin est également président de l'Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie depuis 2020. Récemment, le Parti conservateur a fait des percées dans des circonscriptions qui pourraient être considérées comme fortement libérales, notamment Glengarry- Prescott-Russell, alors que l’opinion publique à l’égard du Premier ministre Trudeau et du Parti libéral s’effrite à l’échelle nationale. Selon les données de sondage récemment agrégées par 338Canada, la circonscription de M. Drouin va probablement basculer du côté conservateur lors des élections de 2025, le parti de Pierre Poilievre ayant 70 % de chances de l’emporter.
Francis Drouin, député libéral de Glengarry-Prescott-Russell depuis 2015, ne se représentera pas. M. Drouin a déclaré à Radio-Canada qu'il avait perdu sa passion pour la politique, précisant que les dernières années ont été extrêmement difficiles pour sa famille. M. Drouin a toutefois précisé que son retrait de la politique fédérale n'avait rien à voir avec la plus récente controverse dans laquelle il a qualifié certains de ses collè- gues du Comité de l'agriculture de « pleins de merde ». and contribution to the community and fostering the growth of community organi- zations that bring about positive impact in Clarence-Rockland. Keep an eye out on the City’s social media channels as it unveils each strategy of the plan.
Now that the City of Clarence-Rockland has adopted its strategic plan, which provides a roadmap emphasizing the priorities for Clarence-Rockland over the next four years, staff are vowing to keep the public updated and informed as much as possible through the entire process. Throughout the course of the summer, the City of Clarence-Rockland will provide resi- dents across the municipality with updates and information regarding the plan, which highlights the priorities for Clarence-Rockland from 2024 through 2028. The City of Clarence-Rockland’s Chief Administrative Officer Pierre Voisine said the City’s most recent strategic plan was developed for a the six-year period between 2015 to 2021 and was due for an update. City staff initiated a number of activities with a goal of interacting with residents in order to determine their strategic priorities for Clarence-Rockland. City employees met with residents in restaurants, schools, golf tournaments and community events, which gave them a chance to provide their input on Clarence- Rockland’s priorities over the next four years. “A big portion of this plan is community GFFECBDL uTBJE7PJTJOFi8IFOXFXFSF consulting the public, we tailored questions to get as much information on the strengths, weaknesses and really, what they wanted UPTFF/PX XFBSFDPNJOHCBDLUPUIF community and saying, ‘this what you told us,’. What the plan details The City’s 2024-2028 strategic plan is highlighted by strategies focusing on balanced growth, high quality services and community cohesion, while still balancing residential, commercial and industrial growth through community values, expectations, and quality of life. The City said the plan will support growth by evidence-based decision-making, regular progress monitoring and reporting.

Running in summer: take these precautions when it’s (too!) hot
Summer citrus salad
THIS REFRESHING SALAD IS DELICIOUS AND HEALTHY. WHY NOT ENJOY IT WITH FRIENDS ON YOUR PATIO OR IN THE PARK? Ingredients (Servings: 2) • 1/4 cup pearl barley • 1 pomegranate
Exercising outdoors during summer is great. However, during a heatwave, you risk dehydration, sunstroke and more. Follow these tips for a safe run. Adapt your running habits It can be hard on your body to run during a heatwave. Remember that your performance can be affected, so lower your expectations and stay within your limits. Instead, try shorter intervals with moderate intensity. Also, run early in the morning or evening when the sun isn’t at its peak. Hydrate regularly Ensure you drink plenty of water before, during and after your run. If you run for over an hour, drink a sports drink to replace lost electrolytes and salts. Dress appropriately Lightweight, breathable workout clothing is designed to wick away moisture and
prevent chafing. Complete your outfit with sunglasses and a baseball hat or visor. Don’t forget the sunscreen! Look for shade Avoid running on blacktop and cement. In- stead, run in green spaces like tree-lined sidewalks, parks and riverbanks. In sweltering weather, you could also opt for a trail run, where the trees shade you from the sun. Finally, listen to your body. Nausea, head- aches and dizziness are all signs that it’s time to stop. If there’s an extreme heat warning, heed the recommendations of the authorities and exercise caution. After all, your health is at stake!
• 4 cups arugula or spring mix • 1 cup cooked chicken breast, roughly diced • 1 orange, peeled and cut into thin slices • 1 tablespoon crushed toasted almonds (for garnish)
If you don’t eat meat, replace the chicken with another plant protein of your choice!
Directions 1. In a small saucepan, simmer the barley for 25 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside to let cool. 2. Cut open the pomegranate and remove the seeds. Watch an online tutorial if necessary. Set aside. 3. whisk together the ingredients for the dressing in a small bowl. Season to taste and set aside. 4. In a large dish or salad bowl, gently toss the lettuce, chicken, orange slices, barley and pomegranate seeds. 5. Add the dressing and serve in salad bowls. Garnish with crushed almonds.
