Dear Cattlemen, Welcome to our production sale that has been held on the first Tuesday in March for the 53rd consecutive year. Due to the fact that I turned 80 in January I’m finding it harder to get things done. Many of you know our grandson, Trent. Future plans are to transition the operation over to him in the next few years. He has been making most of the breeding decisions over the last few years, and we believe the cattle will be in good hands. We have a very good group of bulls and females to offer you again this year. The cattle are sired by top AI sires and our own herd bulls. Each sire group has some excellent individuals to select from. Some of the heifers are bred to our newest herd sire SHF Louisville 619G L099. We got calves by him last spring and are pretty excited about them. Next year’s sale will feature his first calves. Top to bottom this is a really good set of sale cattle this year. The heifers were synchronized and bred to top sires that will give you a quality calf plus a future brood cow. We have not bought an outside female into our herd for over 50 years. This helps us control udder quality, mothering ability, and everything else that makes a trouble-free cow. We have had a very good year. The corn crops in this area were really good as were the pasture grass. Beef prices are at record prices and demand for beef is very high and is expected to remain that way in the future. • Any correction from the auction stand takes precedence over the catalog. Any known defects will be announced and the auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids. • All cattle will be tested within 30 days of sale to meet state requirements and will be ready to ship anywhere. • All bulls and females are guaranteed to be breeders if given proper care. Heifers pronounced safe in calf by veterinarian shall be considered breeders without any further guarantee. Any animal failing to breed within five months may be returned to the seller if in as good condition as when sold. The seller reserves the right to try said animal for five months, if animal proves to be a breeder, the owner gets the bull at his expense. If he fails to be a breeder, a satisfactory exchange will be made or his money refunded. • Terms are cash. These bulls will produce calves that qualify for these programs, along with the Maternal Advantage Program that includes cows of any breed. • We have been in the Polled Hereford business for 74 years and have sold cattle into 37 states, Canada and Argentina. How To Read The Catalog Information The CHB logo is shown on anything in the top 50% of the breed for producing feeder cattle that will excel in the economically relevant traits of gain, feed efficiency, and carcass merit when mated to Angus cows. The Maternal Advantage logo is shown on anything in the top 50% of the breed for Baldy Maternal INdex (BMI$) if used on British-based cows.
13. Scrotal Circumference EPD is the best estimate of fertility. It is related to the bull’s own semen quantity and quality, and is also associated with age at puberty of sons and daughters. 14. Fat thickness EPD. Plus indicates higher fat thickness and minus indicates lower fat thickness. 15. Rib eye area EPD. Plus indicates larger Rib eye area and minus indicates smaller Rib eye area. 16. Marbling EPD. Plus indicates higher marbling and minus indicates lower marbling. 17. MCE Maternal Calving Ease. Reads the same as Box 10, only it is an EPD indication of a sires’ daughters to calve unassisted. 18. The milking ability of a bull’s daughter expressed in pounds of calf weaned. It predicts the difference in average weight of a bull’s daughter’s progeny due to milking ability. 19. Milk and Growth reflects what the bull is expected to transmit to his daughters for a combination of growth genetics and genetics for milking ability through the time the calf is weaned. 20. Udder Suspension scores range from very tight to very pendulous and represent assessments of udder support. The breed average for udder is 1.27. 21. Teat Size scores range from very tight to very pendulous and are subjective assessments of the teat length and circumference. The beed average for teat size is 1.29. 22. Baldy Maternal Index. 23. Brahman Influence Index. 24. Certified Hereford Beef Index.

• We kept 42K back to use on our herd after we lost his sire before he saw a lot of use here on the farm. Since then, he has only gotten better. His dam is one of our best cows, and pairing that with his granddam, 19Z, results in a maternal explosion that has mated some of our best young heifers. He has 2 sons in the sale.

• The two year old bulls were raised on a high roughage ration thru the first winter and then run on grass until early fall, when they received supplement along with grass. They were all raised as a group and are used to lots of exercise to keep them hard and athletic. All bulls have been semen tested by South Central Vet Hospital, Superior, Nebraska. ● He is the largest framed bull in the sale and was the heaviest bull calf at time of weaning. He is long spined and well marked. He is in the top 25% for Milk, M&G, Teat, and top 1 0 % for Scrotal, SCF, MCW, Udder, CW, REA, BMI, BII.
● 3M is a larger framed bull that only gets better with age. He has full eye pigmentation and is conservatively marked. He has lots of freckles on his face which only adds to his appeal. He is in the top 20% for BMI, BII, and is top 5% for SCF, MCW, Udder, Teat.
