UNITED AIRLINES IS RESUMING ITS FLIGHTS TO ISRAEL
The airline notified Israel Airports Authority of its plans to resume flights beginning March 3rd, 2024
U nited Airlines announced Wednesday to the Israel Airports Authority that it plans to resume flights to Israel starting from March 3rd, 2024. United, like most airlines worldwide, suspended flights to Israel shortly after the outbreak of the war in Gaza, and it will be the first American carrier to return to Ben Gurion Airport, initially with a direct
route to New York’s Liberty International Airport. Currently, Israeli flag carrier El Al is the only airline operating direct flights from Israel to the United States, and the return of an American carrier to Ben Gurion Airport is expected to, albeit slightly, lower the cost of flights to the destination. United Airlines has not yet issued an official
announcement regarding its return. Meanwhile, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, which continued to fly to Israel throughout the entire war, has announced that they will resume operating the route between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi with a daily flight, starting in May.
In addition, Dutch airline KLM plans to resume its flights between Amsterdam and Tel Aviv starting from April 1 until May 19, 2024, with a daily flight using a Boeing 737-900 aircraft. The flights to Israel will include a layover in Larnaca, where crew members who are unwilling to travel to Israel will be replaced.
BEN GURION AIRPORT: A RECORD NUMBER OF PASSENGERS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE WAR
An increase in the number of passengers at Ben Gurion Airport this week According to data from the Airports Authority, February noticed approximately 29,500 passengers a day passed through Ben Gurion on 169 incoming and outgoing international flights. In total, about 15,800 passengers left on international flights and about 13,700 passengers entered Israel.
This is a peak in passenger traffic since the beginning of the war, and a figure very similar to that of last Thursday, when 29,500 people passed through Israel, and this is the first time since the war in October that the numbers are relatively high. It should be noted that at the beginning of a week – more than in the middle of the week. The Airports Authority recommends following the latest flight schedule on the Airports Authority website and at the airlines.
