HOTELS JAFFA: A CENTURIES-OLD ANCIENT BUILDING WILL BE CONVERTED INTO A BOUTIQUE HOTEL
March 2024
“Khan Manoli”, which in the distant past was used as a hostel for merchant caravans, was renovated a few years ago and became a commercial area. Now it is expected to undergo another incarnation with an investment of about 18 million ILS and become a boutique hotel
A new boutique hotel will open in the flea market in Jaffa in “Khan Manoli” - a building that was used hundreds of years ago as a hostel for merchant caravans, and whose facade was built of limestone during the Crusader days. The hotel will include 50 rooms, and 28 premium apartments will be built above it. The Goldstein construction with 50 rooms and 28 luxury apartments that will be built above them
company purchased the building at 9 Hashel Street five years ago, which underwent conservation and expansion, and its conversion into a hotel will be carried out with an investment of approximately 18 million ILS. The boutique Market House hotel of the Atlas group operates in an adjacent building, and not far away is the Setai hotel. Erez Goldstein, the owner
of the company, said that after buying the building and renovating it, the company operated it as a commercial area with shops, but since the COVID in 2021, commercial activity in the area has decreased and it was decided to utilize the ancient building for the purpose of expanding it and converting it into a unique boutique hotel. “The spectacular architecture
of the hospitality buildings from hundreds of years ago is still relevant and current, and will allow an experiential connection to the roots”, said Goldstein. “It’s amazing how much can be learned even today from the wisdom of ancient construction. For months we employed masons who uncovered the original stone of the building from 600 years ago”.
