A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

It seems hard to believe, but it is that time of year when the admissions process for next year’s Year 7 begins and to help us improve our transition process, we will be asking both students and parents to complete a short feedback form about your experience of the transition process at Waldegrave. The move from primary school to secondary school is a hugely important time in our students’ lives so any information that will help us support our students with this will be much appreciated.

In form time this week, we have looked at the qualities that make somebody a good friend. We have also celebrated World Book Day by continuing our ‘Reading Aloud’ scheme on Wednesday and then researching information about our favourite authors on Thursday.

Well done to Alexa D (7SHU) and Amber P (7PUN) on their involvement in the Youth Election Hustings this week.

Congratulations to 7EDA, 7FLE and 7EST who have been awarded the most house points this week.

On Monday, Year 7 will mark ‘SAFE’ day with a form time activity. SAFE stands for ‘Substance Advice For Everyone’ and this is a borough wide scheme to support young people with drugs’ education.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

“ A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder ” is a fast-paced and captivating mystery novel which follows the life of a young girl Pippa who grew up in a small town which has become tainted with a murder. Despite the case being closed, she chooses to study the case as her topic for her final year project and begins to unveil secrets that wish to stay deeply hidden. I loved watching the story unfold and leftover fragments of a murder case left open click together through the compelling and relatable character of Pippa. I would really recommend it for anyone looking for a gripping and challenging read, which explores second guessing the truth and looking deeper than the surface.
