2021-June - Hope in the Dark

When Life Seems Unjust T he Psalmist, in Psalm 73, complained to God that life is not fair. He toldGod that evil people prosper, while good people suffer and die young. It’s just not fair! He said the whole matter was perplexing to him until he considered the end of life and the judgment to come. He realized that God’s justice would win out in the end. It is like Paul wrote, “Do not be deceived.: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” (Galatians 6:7) Listen to the Psalmist’s conclusion:

When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you. Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. —Psalm 73:21-26
