I f you take any photograph or painting, no matter how beautiful, if you can find the right matting and frame to put around it, it will make the picture look twice as pretty. In like manner, I believe God has put a frame around each of our lives, and that is death. At first we hate the frame, but once we accept it, the picture inside becomes more precious and beautiful. There is a joy and a peace that comes when we accept what God has given us, no matter how difficult. Fanny Crosby, whose hymns have touched millions, became blind as a very young girl. She is the one who wrote such classic hymns as Blessed Assurance. She was once asked by Dwight L. Moody, the great American evangelist, “Fanny, if God were to grant you one wish on this earth what would it be?”—He expected her to say, “I’d like to receive my sight back.” Instead she said, “I’d ask to remain blind the rest of my life so that the first face I see will be the face of Jesus.” Attitude is one of the few things in life we can choose. You may not always be able to choose what goes inside your frame, but you can, so to speak, choose the color of the frame. d
