A patient once told me that she felt she wasn’t good enough to go to heaven. I said, “You’re not.” Her eyes got big. I told her, “That’s why we need a Savior.” I then told her the story of the brother and sister who had gotten their school pictures. The sister complained about how poorly she looked. She said, “These pictures don’t do me justice.” Her brother responded, “You don’t want justice. You want mercy!”—I don’t know about you, but I don’t want God’s justice. I want and need God’s grace, mercy, and pardon come Judgment Day. That is why the Gospel is such good news. There is mercy and forgiveness for those who don’t deserve it. d
