2021-June - Hope in the Dark

A s a hospice chaplain, this is one of my most frequently asked questions. I think the answer is, “Yes.”—First, we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, one church. We will all be “one.” (John 17:20-21). We will live together (John 14:1-2; Revelation 21). We will see each other at the judgment (Luke 12:2-3; I Corinthians 6:2-3). In the Bible those who have died still retain their identity. Moses is still Moses. Abraham is still Abraham (e.g., Luke 16:19-31). David looked forward to seeing his deceased son (II Samuel 12:23). Nowhere in scripture does it say we won’t know each other. Common sense says we will know and love one another for all eternity. d Will We Know Each Other In Heaven?
